Medical Staff Coordinator

Position Summary
Performs credentialing and privileging functions related to the appointment and reappointment of practitioners to the Medical Staff in accordance with St. Catherine Hospital Medical Staff Bylaws and standards outlined by The Joint Commission (TJC), Indiana State Department of Health, and other applicable regulatory agencies. Coordinates the daily operations of the department under the direction of the Manager of Medical Staff Services. Provides support and administrative services to medical staff leaders.
Job Responsibilities
Practitioner Files: Verify and process all new applications, reapplications, and privileging. Ensures that the file is complete before submitting to the department chairman for review prior to being presented to the Credentials Committee, Medical Executive Committee, and the Board of Directors for approval. Monitoring: Coordinates the activity of those requiring proctoring for privileging, preceptor reviews which include tracking, monitoring, forwarding notices, and Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) recommendations. Medical Staff Meetings: Coordinates medical staff and committee meeting functions. This includes preparation of materials, attendance, taking and transcribing minutes, and follow-up of recommendations. Consults with chairs regarding their agendas and provides notifications to responsible parties. Call Schedules: Preparation and dissemination of monthly Emergency Department specialty rosters, includes processing roster changes. Students: Process paperwork for medical students and physician assistant students enrolled at institutions with affiliation agreements. Process paperwork for non-contracted student observers wishing to shadow a physician on the medical staff. Administrative: Coordinates the daily operations of the department under the direction of the Manager and provides support and administrative services to medical staff leaders.
Education/Experience
Associate degree. Experience: Minimum of 1-year experience in Medical Staff Services that includes credentialing experience. Preferred Qualifications: Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) Certification Knowledge of the credentialing process for medical staff and allied health applicants. Knowledge of The Joint Commission (TJC) credentialing requirements.
