We are seeking a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse, sometimes referred to as a Med Surge RN. These Registered Nurses (RN) play an important role in our hospital by providing comprehensive care to patients who are recovering from surgery, managing acute and chronic illnesses, or undergoing diagnostic procedures. Med-Surg nurses are considered the backbone of hospital nursing due to the variety and volume of patients they manage.

 

Bonus Options: up to $20,000 (Paid out as stipends every 90 days)           

Employment Type: Full Time

Shifts Available: Days

Hours: 7:00am to 7:00pm

Location: St. Joseph Medical Center - Kansas City, MO

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

Conduct thorough initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of patients' physical, emotional, and mental healthMonitor vital signs, intake/output, and other clinical indicators to detect changes in patient conditionsRecognize and act on warning signs of deterioration, such as changes in heart rate, respiratory rate, or mental statusSafely administer prescribed medications (oral, IV, subcutaneous, intramuscular) and monitor for adverse effects or allergic reactionsAct as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure the patient's needs are metProvide patient education on their condition, treatment options, and lifestyle adjustments to support recovery and prevent readmissionCommunicate effectively with doctors, specialists, physical therapists, and social workers to develop and adjust care plans Qualifications

Current and valid state RN LicenseCurrent BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:

Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain currentPrevious Acute Care hospital experienceVentilator management experienceBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
