Job Details Ability to perform phlebotomy, EKG and clerical duties in the pre-surgical setting Takes EKG’s accurately. Provides patient privacy while taking EKG’s. Demonstrates knowledge of use of equipment. Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology. Performs phlebotomy on patients and follows established technique, be courteous to patients, proper labeling and identification of patient, disposing of needles and exercising standard precautions. Prepares and maintains EKG and phlebotomy supplies for use. Notifies Assistant Head Nurse/charge nurse of Equipment failure and/or need for maintenance in a timely manner. Learns new duties in a appropriate timeframe and adjusts to new situations encountered on the job Completes assignments without interference to quality of work. Adapts to changes in workload without interference to patient care. Assembles charts and other paperwork. Completes lab and EKF requests accurately, following the requirements of receiving departments. Deliver/pick up reports an specimens to/from the lab. Fax reports to the physician offices as directed by the Pre Surgical Testing nurse. Receives and communicates all pertinent information to appropriate personnel. Functions appropriately during emergency and crisis situations. Communicates effectively with: patients and families other nursing personnel other departments Supervisory Maintains a clean, safe, functional working environment. Consistently demonstrates a concern for cleanliness and infection control practices. Always observes hospital uniform/dress code and wears identification badge. Always promotes positive relations when interacting with patients and/or fellow employees. Demonstrates ability in the care and handling of patients in all age groups including, but not limited to, consideration of the special needs and behavior of each respective group. Performs other functions as required or requested. Attendance/Punctuality- employee is punctual and attendance is consistent with hospital policy. Mandatory Education- exhibits an understanding of the hospital’s Mandatory Program. Fire/Safety- demonstrates an understanding of the hospital’s fire and safety program and procedures as outlined in the fire and safety manual. Infection Control- consistently utilizes infection control practices. Dress Code- always observes the hospital dress code and wears identification badge. Adaptability/Flexibility- learns new tasks, accepts new duties and adjusts to new procedures/processes/requirements. Attitude- shows interest, enthusiasm and cooperation in work, company and associates. Judgment- consistently chooses an appropriate course of action asks questions and asks for guidance as appropriate. Initiative- performs assigned tasks, without detailed instructions. Responsibility- assumes and carries out assigned tasks and is accountable for results. Identifies and plans for the specific growth and developmental needs of patients. Demonstrates ability in the care and handling of patients in all age groups including, but not limited, consideration of the special needs and behavior of each respective group. Demonstrates clinical competency in the specific area of nursing in which she/he practices. EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Education: High School Diploma or GED, Phlebotomy Certification; BLS (AHA) Salary Range USD $27.61 - USD $28.86 /Hr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
