Summary

Medical Technologist

The Clinical Lab at Moffitt South Shore will provide all necessary laboratory testing for this location to include hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, and coagulation. The laboratory will have state of the art instrumentation and provide a key service for the patients that visit this location. 

Position Highlights:

The medical technologist exercises broad independent judgment and requires minimal technical supervision to complete assigned tasks. Processes and analyzes clinical specimens as required to provide the necessary laboratory results for our patients. Performs quality assurance and quality control duties.

The Ideal Candidate:

Knowledge of theory, testing principles and instrumentation related to routine clinical laboratory procedures in the areas of hematology, chemistry, coagulation and urinalysis.  Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology preferred, Associate's degree required.  3 years of experience as a Medical Technologist preferred. Will adapt positively to change, and interact effectively and professionally with others.

Responsibilities:

Performs and reports laboratory tests in the areas of routine hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, and chemistry. Participates in the evaluation of new procedures and equipment. Assists in the writing and revising technical procedures. Assists in the training of others. Assists with miscellaneous functions required to maintain the smooth operation of the department such as clerical duties, reagent preparation, and inventory control activities.

Credentials and Qualifications:

Associate’s degree in Medical technology is required Florida state license in the specialties of Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, Immunohematology and Serology required. Ability to troubleshoot technical problems is required.
