Medical Technologist

Join our Labcorp Quality Assurance department as a Medical Technologist in Madison, WI.

The Medical Technologist will focus on:

Analyzing, testing, and performing quality control for all specimensThis is a fast-paced environment where attention to detail is key

The essential job duties are:

Perform assigned clinical laboratory testing accurately and in a timely mannerRetrieve and check specimens against pending list.  Document and resolve any specimen discrepancies.  Notify laboratory management when specimen discrepancies are not resolvedPrepare workstation and instrumentation for the assigned testingReceive, open and place in service all reagents according to SOPsPrepare and properly label reagents and document according to SOPsResolve routine and non-routine assay problemsPerform parallel testing, reagent validation, linearity’s, and stability studiesProcess and ship samples according to study specific instructionsEvaluates and solves problems related to the collection and processing of specimensEnsure the validity of test results through the performance of established quality control procedures.  Interpret quality control results according to established departmental procedures. Document quality control results. Reports the quality control results to the management, troubleshoots, and takes corrective actions on questionable or out-of-limit results.  Documents all corrective actions and submits them for review by the management.Prepare proper documentation of test results and enter into the information systemComplete testing within the expected turnaround time to meet customers’ expectationsCalibrate instruments / assays as required, troubleshoot and documentMaintain a clean, organized and safe work environment.  Handles hazardous materials, reagents and chemicals in a safe manner according to SOPActively participate in new assay validations according to SOPsPerform weekly QC/PM reviewOther duties as assigned

Education/Experience

Associate's degree in clinical pathology or medical technologyAmerican Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification requiredStrong attention to detail
