Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Technologist to perform analytical procedures following Blood Bank Laboratory protocols. The ideal candidate will be adept in specimen processing, test performance, reporting results, and managing various laboratory equipment. This role requires the ability to perform calibrations, quality control, and statistical calculations, as well as an understanding of Blood Bank concepts. The Medical Technologist will participate in inspection teams, manage laboratory responsibilities, and handle supply and inventory issues.
ResponsibilitiesPerform analytical procedures following Blood Bank Laboratory protocols without supervision.Conduct specimen processing, test performance, and report results with documented training.Execute required calibration, quality control, statistical calculations, and other process control functions.Manage monthly laboratory responsibilities with follow-up to the Supervisor.Participate as a member on inspection teams, including the College of American Pathologists, AABB, and/or FDA.Order, accession, status, and report test results on patient specimens, ensuring the accuracy of patient identifiers and specimen quality.Use, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment following established procedures.Receive and store Stem Cell Products and/or Human Tissue following appropriate procedures.Review technical and administrative procedures as assigned, staying informed about section changes and updates.Handle supply and inventory issues, including identifying key technical parameters and following section inventory procedures.Answer telephone inquiries, interacting with physicians and other clinical staff.Follow all laboratory and hospital safety policies, including chemical safety and infection control policies.Train others as assigned, including students, residents, and new employees.Participate in on-call rotation as warranted.Essential SkillsB.S. in Medical Technology or equivalent, meeting CLIA qualifications for Moderate complexity laboratory testing.Clinical Laboratory technical skills and stem cell experience.ASCP certification or equivalent required within 90 days of hire.Additional Skills & QualificationsDemonstrated attention to detail and high-quality results.Excellent customer service skills.Professional, friendly, and courteous interpersonal skills in interactions with hospital staff, supervisory staff, co-workers, customers, and patients/family members.Work Environment
The role offers the opportunity to work with one of the best children's hospitals, directly impacting the lives of patients. The Medical Technologist will work in a clinical laboratory setting, handling hazardous materials with appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The position requires adherence to laboratory and hospital safety policies, including chemical safety and infection control. The work environment involves routine interaction with a variety of clinical staff and may include on-call rotation.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $87360.00
Sign on bonus depending on experience.
