Job Title: Medical Technologist Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Technologist to join our inpatient lab team. As a Medical Technologist, you will perform a variety of diagnostic tests and procedures to support patient care. You will work in a fast-paced, high-throughput lab environment, ensuring accurate and timely results. Responsibilities + Prepare patient samples for testing and determine the acceptability of specimens and results. + Perform Hematology, Chemistry, and Urinalysis testing. + Conduct laboratory tests and procedures using techniques such as ELISA, RNA extraction, and flow cytometry. + Perform manual, semi-automated, and automated biochemical, hematological, microbiological, and blood bank analyses. + Maintain, calibrate, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments. + Prepare, label, and store reagents, standards, controls, and specimens accurately. + Report accurate and timely test results to ensure quality patient care. + Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement activities. + Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary. + Recognize normal, abnormal, unusual, and critical results and take appropriate action. + Verify the accuracy of results and initiate corrective action when needed. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or a related science. + Certified Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Lab Scientist (MLS), or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) from ASCP, NCA, AMT, or AAB. + Experience working in a hospital or clinical laboratory. + Proficiency in hematology, clinical chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, and/or microscopy. + Ability to operate and maintain laboratory instruments. + High attention to detail. + Strong communication and organizational skills. + Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Blood Bank experience is highly preferred. + Proficiency with computers and familiarity with laboratory information systems. + Ability to interpret test results and apply them to patient care. + Coachable and able to take and initiate feedback well. + Proven history of reliability and positive attendance. Work Environment You will be working in a large hospital lab that serves as the central lab for all inpatient samples. The lab is fast-paced with high throughput. Onboarding takes about 2 weeks and includes drug, medical, and background - checks. Contracts are initially for 3 months, with the potential for extensions. The environment supports a strong team culture with opportunities for growth and movement into different departments. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $45.00/hr.
