CVP is seeking Medical Technologists/Clinical Lab Scientists to join our team in providing our Nation's Veterans with laboratory services for the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System in Montgomery, AL. This is a full-time position working Monday-Friday with possible weekend rotation.
Responsibilities Process, analyze, and verify laboratory test results, ensuring accuracy and adherence to quality standardsPerform laboratory testing with proficiency in multiple areas including Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Immunology, and UrinalysisConduct technical procedures for examination of human blood, tissues, and fluidsExecute quality control procedures on assigned instruments and methods per Quality Control protocolsAnalyze and interpret test and control data, including reviewing critical valuesNotify appropriate personnel of critical values according to established protocols with documented read-backPerform equipment maintenance and troubleshoot instrument issues promptlyRun calibration of methods as needed according to instrument specificationsDocument test results accurately and completely in laboratory information systemsAssist in the preparation and loading of reagents, calibrators, and quality control materialsPerform lot-to-lot validations and document results appropriatelyComplete proficiency testing as assigned following laboratory protocolsMaintain laboratory records and perform proper specimen handlingComply with all laboratory safety rules, regulations, and proceduresPromote a culture of safety within the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine ServiceAdhere to all applicable federal, state, and local laws, VHA policies, and proceduresComplete all required training and maintain competenciesParticipate in staff meetings and continuing education activities Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in medical laboratory science, medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or related fieldCurrent certification as a Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT)Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Generalist Medical TechnologistExperience with laboratory equipment including but not limited to: Abbott Alinity, Abbott Architect, TOSOH G8, Sysmex XN 3100, ACL-Top 350, IRIS Systems, and other relevant instrumentation preferredKnowledge of laboratory procedures, methodologies, and Quality Control practicesAbility to successfully undergo a Government sponsored background investigation (US Citizenship Required)Basic Life Support (BLS) certification requiredExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenStrong computer and technical skills, with proficiency in laboratory information systemsDetail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management abilitiesLocation: Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System (CAVHCS) 215 Perry Hill Rd, Montgomery, AL 36109
