Medicare Product Implementation and Optimization (MPIO) Intern 2025 Summer Internship
Description and Requirements Healthfirst’s 2025 Summer Trailblazer Internship is a 10-week paid program beginning on June 2, 2025. This is an immersive and interactive learning experience that lays a foundation for continued leadership development. Interns do impactful work, collaborating with other interns, employees, and business leaders to solve current business problems and deliver solutions. Position Summary: The Medicare Product Implementation & Optimization (MPIO) Intern assists the MPIO team with the development, implementation, and/or monitoring of new and existing products across Medicare and Integrated Products to support business plan goals, maximize consumer experience, and enhance operational efficiency. Primary responsibilities may include but are not limited to assisting with implementing new benefits and services for these products, implementing enhancements to existing processes, and working on both enterprise projects & ad-hoc initiatives. The Medicare Product Implementation & Optimization (MPIO) Intern will assist the MPIO team to work with cross-functional teams across all levels of staff, and across the enterprise, to provide support through operational development, project management and/or coordination, and end-to-end implementation of business processes. A Medicare Product Implementation & Optimization (MPIO) Intern at Healthfirst assists the MPIO team to solve routine problems of limited scope and complexity following established policies and procedures. The successful candidate will be a team player who is results-driven, creative, and a detail-orientated individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

Assist MPIO team to Lead or participate in product-driven workgroups or provide input to product designs/enhancements and implementation plans Work with key stakeholders (including, but not limited to Regulatory, Claims Configuration, Provider Ops, Appeals & Grievance, Medical Management, Enrollment & Billing, Sales) to identify, scope and accurately implement new benefits, services, or other product changes, update processes and/or edit systems to accommodate regulatory requirements Lead or coordinate ad hoc projects such as process improvement initiatives and program implementations, when applicable Coordinate activities of product or project-specific cross-functional work teams / serve as liaison between product management and all levels of staff to assure ongoing effective administration of products Collaborate with various departments to ensure we are pro-actively troubleshooting issues and resolving them in a timely manner Monitor internal policies/procedures and job aids on a regular basis to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and consistence with actual activities Support Medicare Product leadership in preparing and conducting product and lines of business (LOB) presentations and training to internal and external audiences Plan, schedule, monitor, and report on activities related to a project or assignment; ensure communication to all impacted areas Serve as a subject matter expert on product benefits and requirements to other business units 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

Undergraduate students must be a junior or senior at an accredited institution or have graduated within 12 months of the program. Graduate students must be enrolled at an accredited institution or have graduated within 12 months of the program.  Will not require sponsorship for employment  Eligible to work in the U.S.  Must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA from an accredited school  Knowledge of project management concepts 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Organizational and project management skills Strong work ethic, attention to detail, ability to effectively manage time, and commitment to developing quality work quickly Ability to work independently Presentation abilities and process-mapping experience Strong written and verbal communication Ability to adapt to constant change and competing priorities, and to manage multiple projects simultaneously 

Hiring Range*:

Greater New York City Area (NY, NJ, CT residents): $39,208 - $52,000

All Other Locations (within approved locations): $34,091 - $49,920

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, licenses and certifications, and any other factors Healthfirst deems pertinent to the hiring decision.
