Position Summary
Responsible for accurately collecting and entering patient medication histories into the hospital's information system for utilization by the Physician responsible for admitting, discharging, or releasing the patient from the hospital. Will also collaborate with admission/discharge nurses and pharmacists as needed to resolve medication history related issues.
Observes the GMC's attendance policy. Complies with departmental policies for reporting to work on time and for complying with designated meal/break period time frames. Attends and participates in department meetings. Identifies self in a pleasant and positive manner. Assists patients, family members or other clients with concern and empathy. Demonstrates effective communication recognizing diversity among age groups, cultures, and educational levels. Works consistently in a positive and cooperative manner with other employees in and outside of the departmental unit.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED. Certified or Registered Pharmacy Technician. Minimum one year retail pharmacy experience including verification and clarification of prescription medication orders and/or hospital medication reconciliation processes and experience with order entry software. Current BLS. Meditech experience preferred. Must be able to work under the direction of a licensed nurse and follow written or verbal instructions effectively. Participates in educational conferences, completes education in-services, and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to areas of practice.
