We have an exciting opportunity for a talented chemist to join our Small-Molecule Drug Discovery Chemistry Department at Genentech in South San Francisco, CA.
The Opportunity
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and synthesizing analogs for molecular targets by applying innovative structure- and computation-driven and property-based design principles in a multi-disciplinary, team-based culture. In addition to close collaboration with other chemists, the candidate will engage with various functions such as Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics, Structural Biology, Biochemical and Cellular Pharmacology, Machine Learning, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Safety and disease area Biology.
Who You Are
A PhD with 0-6 years of post-PhD experience, or equivalent and relevant experience in chemical research.
Expertise in modern synthetic organic chemistry is required as demonstrated by a track record of at least one first authored publication(s).
Ability to conduct multi-step syntheses and retrosynthetic analysis of complex molecules.
Preferred
You will demonstrate extensive experience and record of accomplishment in one or more of the following areas: medicinal chemistry, methodology/catalysis, total synthesis, chemical biology and physical organic chemistry.
You will convey strong verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively in teams.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $147,000 and $273,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
