Melt Shop Scale Clerk, BRS

Objective of the Job: The Scale Clerk is responsible for weighing inbound and outbound traffic that is delivering material to Big River Steel Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Ensure Safety, Environmental, Quality requirements and “where applicable” ResponsibleSteel requirements are followed. 2. Captures tare weights on all applicable equipment at the beginning of each shift and before each barge begins to unload. 3. Obtains and verifies PO for incoming OTR traffic. 4. Scales in OTR traffic. 5. Directs OTR traffic to the correct pile location. 6. Weighs out each OTR vehicle and proceeds to capture the receipted weight into IOM. 7. Prints 2 tickets for OTR traffic upon exiting; 1 ticket for the driver, and 1 ticket for BRS. 8. Enters the ticket information into a spreadsheet for verification and tracking. 9. Checks in mill service provider trucks for onsite barge unloading. 10. Captures mill service provider trucks weights in IOM. 11. Enters mill service provider truck weights into spreadsheet. 12. At the end of the shift and/or the start of every barge unload, compare truck driver log to barge/scale clerk log and to IOM report for a triple check process. 13. Close notices once IOM report, scale clerk log, truck driver logs, and the daily barge log all match. 14. Release barges upon completion of unloading/cleaning. 15. Publish daily and ad-hoc reports as needed. 16. Performs other duties as required. Qualifications: 1) Requirements and Skills: a) Proficient use of the English language in reading, writing, and speaking b) Ability to manage multiple tasks, to set priorities, and to meet deadlines c) Strong organization and analytical skills d) Self-managing; works well with little supervision e) Geographically competent f) Ability to clearly communicate with internal and external parties regarding issues and changes 2) Education and Experience: a) High School degree or GED Equivalent b) 1 to 3 years of related experience preferred c) Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: Environment is typically in an office setting with a controlled environment. Physical responsibilities do include going into the plant, external locations and scale houses as needed. General work hours are expected with some overtime depending on the workload.
