Scope of Position:
An excellent opportunity to support and develop in one of Corning Incorporated's key engineering organizations supporting new, innovative and challenging technologies, while working within an experienced and progressive team environment. Responsibilities will be focused around the design, installation, operation and maintenance of glass melting equipment. The primary role will be in supporting current projects, providing logistical support, vendor interaction, equipment checkout as well as local project support collaborating with facility engineering reviewing layouts and providing onsite installation support. Activities would also include working with design teams, providing feedback for improvements from facilities, manufacturing and vendors to ensure the most up to date technology is reflected in design documentation.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Participate on project teams supporting the overall effort through processing and monitoring process equipment orders including refractories, steel and precious metals. Be the first point of contact between the vendors and the project team. Provide onsite support at vendors (Internal and External) throughout the fabrication process and final checkout. Support and provide guidance through the fabrication, installation and construction activities and provide support start-up of the melting process. Provide the project or task with sound innovative thinking, problem solving skills and customer focus. Receive direction or guidance from a senior department member to develop/strengthen melting engineering competencies. Provide CAD support as needed. Once competent in the technology, the position also has potential to lead to technical project leadership.
Travel is required to Corning’s worldwide operations. Frequency and duration vary according to project stage and status. Travel may include project meetings, equipment installation, and commissioning.
Required Education and Experience:
BS in Engineering (Mechanical) Mechanical Engineering skills/experience Understanding of thermal design (Heat Transfer, Heat Balance) Strong hands on application skills. Experience with Solidworks and/or CAD software Project management and organizational skills Results oriented; delivery of tasks to project schedules. Ability to effectively communicate and work in a global environment; across research, development, engineering, commercial, and operations worldwide. Ability to effectively as technical member of a larger project team.

The range for this position is $65,346.00 - $89,852.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
