About the Team

At Nutanix, you would be part of the Core Infrastructure team, a group of talented individuals working collaboratively to drive innovation. This team, known for its collaborative culture, is located in San Jose, California, where team members work closely together to tackle core infrastructure challenges and innovate solutions. The mission of the team is to ensure seamless cluster lifecycle management, with an emphasis on collaboration across various product teams at Nutanix to drive operational excellence and improve the user experience.

You will report to the Hiring Manager, who embodies a leadership style that values teamwork and open communication. The manager fosters an environment where collaboration is encouraged and team members are empowered to contribute ideas and solutions effectively. The work setup for this role is hybrid in San Jose, with team members expected to be in office 3-4 days a week.

This role does not require any travel, allowing the hired candidate to focus on their responsibilities and collaboration within the team without the need for external travel commitments.

 

Your Role

Design and develop Core Software Infrastructure for the Nutanix distributed clusterAbility to make the code extendable for a massively distributed infrastructure with several nodes with millions of entities.Ability to design software with clean interfaces and APIs with other componentsUnderstand intrinsic details about key distributed design principles like CAP theorem, PACELC etc. and ability to apply in virtualized environments.Interact with other teams across the system software stack to clearly communicate and express your technical views and designWork in a fast-moving agile environmentUse critical thinking and problem-solving skills

 

What You Will Bring

Master's degree with 1-2 years of experience or Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience.Excellent design and coding skills in Python, GolangExperience in designing and developing core software infrastructureUnderstanding of hypervisors like ESXi, KVM, or HyperVAbility to design software with clean interfaces and APIsFamiliarity with key distributed design principlesExcellent problem-solving and critical thinking skillsLegal authorization to work in the US is required.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 133,600 and USD $ 200,400 per year.

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. For most roles, that will mean coming into an office a minimum of 2 - 3 days per week, however certain roles and/or teams may require more frequent in-office presence. Additional team-specific guidance and norms will be provided by your manager.
