About the Team

The Performance Engineering Team at Nutanix is a highly skilled and collaborative group of senior engineers. Led by experienced managers, the team is focused on addressing performance issues, driving code and design improvements, and optimizing benchmarks and load tests. They work closely with other teams such as Sales, Support, and Nutanix partners to resolve technical issues and drive performance enhancements. The team values knowledge sharing and encourages open collaboration, making it an ideal environment for problem solvers who enjoy working on challenging problems and helping others succeed.

You will report to the Senior Manager of Performance Engineering, who has been with the company for over 10 years and demonstrates a stable and open leadership style. The manager values flexibility in hiring and fosters a collaborative environment, encouraging team members to actively engage in problem-solving. This role has a hybrid work setup, requiring the candidate to work hybrid 3-4 days a week at the Durham location.

 

Your Role

Automate performance benchmarking tools to streamline analysis processes.Conduct performance analysis and identify bottlenecks in systems.Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot and resolve systemic performance issues.Utilize Linux and Windows performance tools for effective troubleshooting.Engage in cross-collaboration with software developers, solution architects, and team members.Document findings and propose recommendations for performance improvements.Participate in team meetings to provide updates and discuss challenges.Contribute to enhancing performance metrics collaboratively with the team.

 

What You Will Bring

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience; master's degree preferred.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for performance analysis and bottleneck identification.Proficiency in Python and experience with automation tools such as Ansible.Experience in product engineering and C++ knowledge is a plus.Understanding of Linux and Windows system administration, including performance troubleshooting tools.Knowledge of networking and/or storage systems, along with software storage and file system performance characteristics.Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate performance metrics clearly.Legal authorization to work in the US is required

 

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 113,600 and USD $ 170,400 per year.

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. For most roles, that will mean coming into an office a minimum of 2 - 3 days per week, however certain roles and/or teams may require more frequent in-office presence. Additional team-specific guidance and norms will be provided by your manager.
