About the Team

The role will be part of the Flow Virtual Networking team at Nutanix, and the role is based out of San Jose, California. This team is dedicated to developing cutting-edge infrastructure technologies for hybrid cloud. The culture within the team is collaborative and supportive, emphasizing ownership and accountability among its members. The team's mission is to enhance the Nutanix stack by integrating new features and improving existing functionalities, driving innovation and better user experiences within the company's product offerings.

You will report to the Flow Staff Engineer, who fosters a leadership style that prioritizes collaboration and open communication. The hiring manager encourages team members to take ownership of their work, driving their projects with a sense of empowerment. This role will operate in a hybrid work setup, requiring the hire to be present in the office two days a week, specifically on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Your Role

Engage in new feature development, including design discussions and proof of concept (POC) creation.Collaborate with internal teams for design presentations, feedback, and integrating features into the Nutanix stack.Network internally to foster effective communication and collaboration among team members.Demonstrate ownership mentality towards work and contribute actively to team initiatives.Understand and utilize the current technology stack, focusing on distributed systems and programming languages.Attend regular team meetings and stand-ups to discuss project progress and updates.Achieve proficiency in the Nutanix stack and contribute to significant projects within the first year.

What You Will Bring

5 years of related experience (or Master’s Degree + 3 years or more of related experience)Proficient in system programming and distributed systems.Strong networking knowledge and experience.Advanced proficiency in Python or Golang.Experience in developing and consuming REST APIs.Basic understanding of Open Virtual Switch (OVS) and OVN.Knowledge of Kubernetes and deeper understanding of distributed systems (nice to have).Strong communication and collaboration skills.Ability to work effectively in a hybrid team environment.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 124,800 and USD $ 249,600 per year.

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
