Are you a passionate engineer with a strong background in API development, experience of building & scaling distributed systems, and a desire to build a next-gen control plane for hybrid cloud infrastructure while working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment? If so, you'll have the opportunity to be part of our innovative team, where you can contribute to building the next generation API platform for Nutanix's V4 APIs and engage in exciting new development projects. MTS-4  is a mid-level developer position in the Prism engineering team and is responsible for building a highly performant and scalable control plane for the Nutanix platform. The control plane will be used by multiple microservices as well as Nutanix partners and customers. The individual needs to have a keen interest in building impactful end to end features (architecture, design, thinking through workflows / use cases / experience and development of scalable solutions for the same) for customers. The individual should have the ability to design mid-sized modules, implement with high quality code and mentor junior members of the team. 

 

About the TeamThis role will be part of the Nutanix Prism team, based in San Jose. The team is geographically distributed across San Jose and India and is focussed on building an enterprise grade data platform and delivering exceptional multi cloud observability solutions to Nutanix’s customers. The team's culture emphasizes collaboration, technical innovation, and a commitment to excellence, fostering an environment where team members can grow and influence the technical direction of products.You will report to a Senior Engineering Manager, who is known for fostering an inclusive and supportive environment that encourages open communication, fostering a culture where team members feel empowered to influence decisions and contribute to the project’s success. This role will operate in a hybrid work setup, requiring team members to be in the office for two days a week, while allowing flexibility for the remaining days to be worked remotely.This position does not require any travel, as the role is primarily focused on hybrid work. Your RoleDesign and build next-gen V4 APIs for Nutanix control plane. Design & develop a world-class network hybrid/multi cloud product that is distributed, resilient, and highly performant at a large scale deployment.Contribute to all phases of product development through conception, design, implementation, and deployment along with performance engineering.Develop robust design, and write code & unit tests to produce high quality, reusable, and extensible software through an API driven approach.Collaborate with cross-functional teams including other Developers, Testers, Product Management, and Support to meet customer requirements while driving engineering innovation.Participate in defining product requirements, review designs and codes of other engineers, review test plans, performance, and scalability plans.Take ownership of the product features and work independently with minimal supervision to design & deliver a module-level functionality.

 

What You Will Bring 5-8 years of software development experience with Bachelors/ Masters or equivalent in Computer ScienceIntermediate to advanced level programming in Java/Golang/Python with Springboot experienceStrong fundamentals of Operating Systems, Multi-threaded/Multi-Process Applications, inter-process communication, RPCStrong fundamentals in Object-Oriented Programming, Algorithms, Data Structures, and Problem SolvingFluency with Unit Testing Frameworks in Java/Golang/ PythonKnowledge of TCP-IP Suite of protocols (Ethernet, VLAN, IP, ICMP, TCP, UDP, DNS, Vxlan, Geneve)Professional experience developing software for networking or security productsA strong understanding of the Linux operating system and utilitiesUnderstanding of virtualization concepts - compute/storage/network virtualizationExperience developing user-level applications in Linux/Unix environment.Experience working with Public Clouds like AWS, Azure, OCI.Skills in debugging complex distributed applications.Exposure to Linux Networking stack, IP tablesHands-on experience working with web technologies - HTTP/HTTPS, RESTful API, JSON, Protobuf. The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 136,800 and USD $ 273,600 per year.However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. For most roles, that will mean coming into an office a minimum of 2 - 3 days per week, however certain roles and/or teams may require more frequent in-office presence.
