The Memorial Sales Specialist plays a pivotal role in facilitating the sale of bronze and granite memorials by providing expertise in the full cycle of the memorialization process, including product specification and design, sales presentation, production, fulfillment, and installation. The incumbent serves as the market’s Subject Matter Expert (SME) on memorial products, supporting adherence of product design to specifications, quoting and pricing strategies, sales compliance, and other regulatory aspects that impact fulfillment. Additionally, the Memorial Sales Specialist support the development of the sales team’s knowledge of memorial sales processes by leading formal training sessions and developing reference tools and resources

JOB SUMMARY

The Memorial Sales Specialist plays a pivotal role in facilitating the sale of bronze and granite memorials by providing expertise in the full cycle of the memorialization process, including product specification and design, sales presentation, production, fulfillment, and installation. The incumbent serves as the market’s Subject Matter Expert (SME) on memorial products, supporting adherence of product design to specifications, quoting and pricing strategies, sales compliance, and other regulatory aspects that impact fulfillment.  Additionally, the Memorial Sales Specialist support the development of the sales team’s knowledge of memorial sales processes by leading formal training sessions and developing reference tools and resources.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

Memorial Sales and Product Expertise

Utilize in-depth knowledge of memorial design, customization options, and material specifications.Develop the knowledge, resources, and tools to generate accurate and competitive quotes.  Develop pricing strategies that balance the needs of the customer with the company’s financial objectives and ensure sales compliance.Serve as the go-to expert on memorial product specifications, ensuring customer expectations align with production capabilities. Make business decisions that impact the market’s memorial production and revenue objectives by collaborating with vendors, internal departments, and sales counselors, as they guide client families in design and selection of personalized, meaningful memorialization.Guide customers through the design and selection of bronze and granite memorial products.Demonstrate advanced working knowledge and practical application of statutes, regulations and standards to compliantly address questions, concerns, disputes, and escalations, including recognizing circumstances that warrant the guidance of Corporate Counsel

Revenue and Market Growth

Contribute to market memorial production and revenue objectives by identifying growth opportunities and strategies. Serve as instrumental partner for a wide range of sales which may include large and non-standard sales (estates exceeding $.5M and above).Collaborate with internal sales leadership to refine market approaches to memorial sales.Drive initiatives to improve operational efficiency and client satisfaction.

Sales Counselor Training and Support

Develop curriculum and deliver formal training sessions to various levels within the sales team including sales associates, sales managers, and operational leaders enhancing their understanding of memorial products, design options, and sales techniques.Offer ongoing, ad hoc guidance and mentoring to sales teams, ensuring they are equipped to present and sell memorials effectively.Develop tools and resources to present and sell non-standard memorials accurately and efficiently.

Production, Fulfillment, and Installation Management

Liaise with vendors, suppliers, and internal production teams to support fields’ understanding of delivery timelines, production standards, and product quality.Ensure the fulfillment process aligns with customer expectations, from design approval through to installation.Coordinate with administrative and installation teams to support timely and accurate memorial installations of non-standard or large sale orders.Develop a thorough understanding of the HMIS Marker Management System and order tracking.

Vendor and Client Relations

Foster strong liaisons with external vendors and internal teams to support seamless communication and execution of sales and fulfillment.Work directly with client families as needed, providing compassionate support and managing sensitive situations throughout the memorialization process.Act as the bridge between client families and internal teams to resolve any issues that may arise during production or fulfillment.

MINIMUM Requirements

Education

Associates Degree or equivalent highly preferredPursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Sales, or related discipline a plus

Certification/License

Valid state driver’s license in good standing

Experience

3-5 years experience mentoring and training professionals to enhance product knowledge and sales techniques.Experience with pricing strategies, quoting, and product compliance in a sales environment helpful.Experience within the memorialization, funeral, or cemetery services industry preferred but not required.Experience with eVantage Design tool and Universal Design Tool (Roquemore) helpful.Familiarity with sales software, presentation tools, and Microsoft Office or similar applications.Proficiency in design software related to memorial design or the ability to quickly learn such systems.
