Memory Care Director - Coterie Cathedral Hill
The Memory Care Director ensures that the Atria philosophy is implemented and practiced within the Memory Care neighborhood of the community. Support Memory Care Residents Maintain a joyful environment for residents with dementia. Develop, create, plan, organize and lead the daily programs for the Memory Care neighborhood including all required programs in the calendar of events, and ensure it is being implemented 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Collaborate with wellness team to complete individual resident history, preferences assessments, and develop individualized service and program plans. Facilitate a proactive problem-solving approach to challenging resident behaviors. Develop and implement the monthly calendar based on the six Dimensions of Engagement and/or Memory Care best practices. Partner with Care Coordination Director to consistently communicate with residents and families about status, services, changes in conditions, or other issues as needed. Lead Memory Care Neighborhood Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, developing, and evaluating assigned staff. Ensure each Memory Care program staff member has completed New Hire Orientation within the required time frame. Ensure each Program Specialist has signed the Memory Care Specific Job Description to ensure they understand their responsibility to participate in the daily programming requirement. Ensure each Memory Care staff member has completed appropriate memory care training within the required time frame. Ensure each Resident Services Assistant (RSA) and Medication Technician has signed the Memory Care Specific Job Description to ensure they understand their responsibility to participate in the daily programming requirement. Lead, direct, and assist staff with understanding our philosophy of care and encourage learning by modeling the proper approaches and communication techniques. Conduct the monthly dementia in-service training for all Memory Care staff and maintain the necessary records to reflect completion of training. Delegate Memory Care programming facilitation responsibilities to others, as needed. Partner with Care Coordination Director to ensure that Memory Care neighborhood is meeting Quality Enhancement guidelines. Improve the Memory Care services through problem solving, program development, and refinement. Support Community Support sales process, including participating in tours and speaking with prospective residents and families Support the management of information to ensure timely and accurate information is available. Maintain a supportive relationship with internal and external customers. Support hospitality, leasing, and sales processes with promotion of a positive image of Atria. Conduct professional outreach and Memory Care focused outside sales calls For clinical related matters, partner with the Care Coordination Director in maintaining active community and professional ties with clinical and non-clinical contacts, as well as acting as a contact for issues related to resident care within the community. For non-clinical related matters, maintain active community and professional ties. Participate in Resident Needs Reviews. Partner with the Wellness Director to provide training and orientation to new assisted living staff members and ongoing training to current staff members. Deliver and attend required training for self and employees. Drive personal and/or Company vehicle from community to social and other various destinations. May perform other duties as needed and/or assigned. Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred such as social services, behavioral health, therapeutic recreation, and/or nursing. Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in caring for people with dementia and in developing and facilitating activity programs, preferably as a manager with a specialized dementia program. Knowledgeable about the disease process, the changes associated with dementia illnesses, how they affect the individual's ability to function, and the adaptive strategies that help maintain a resident's abilities. Experience facilitating family and caregiver support programs. Past experience supervising staff. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills. Position requires driving responsibilities (may use Company provided vehicle and/or personal vehicle). Must possess valid driver's license. Must satisfactorily meet and be in compliance with Atria's Motor Vehicle Policy standards.
