Our partners are physicians, allied health clinicians and other employees of AdventHealth. **Job Summary:** The Mental Health Counselor will provide leadership in the development and implementation of a counseling program at AdventHealth University. The Mental Health Coordinator will collaborate with faculty and staff in the development of various mental health awareness programs. The Mental Health Counselor provides mental health counseling and support to AHU students. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. **You Will Be Responsible For:** Demonstrates behaviors at Adventist University of Health Sciences in harmony with the “Four Words” **Nurture, Excellence, Spirituality, and Stewardship** + Provides individual, couples, and group counseling services to a diverse clientele within a brief and focused counseling model. Provides on-line counseling and local referral support for the on-line student. Supervises Counseling Interns. + Develops/implements/evaluates awareness programs such as: Substance Abuse, Eating Disorders; Depression, Coping with Stress, Handling Anger; Dealing with Death/Divorce. Coordinates crisis intervention and assist with program review and evaluations. + Refers students with long-term personal, social, or academic concerns that are interfering with academic progress. Interacts with faculty/staff/administration regarding the concerns relative to student behavioral and emotional needs. Serves as a resource and provides consultation to parents, families, faculty, staff, and administration when appropriate. Services and auxiliary aids for students and makes referrals to appropriate community and University services or agencies. + Responsible for planning, organizing, and providing reasonable accommodations that include academic adjustments, auxiliary aids, and services to students with physical, psychological, learning, health-related, and neurological disabilities. Consults with faculty and staff regarding the implementation of reasonable accommodations and services. Prepares letters of accommodation and organizing reasonable accommodations. Works with the University to review, develop, refine, and implement college policies and procedures related to disability services and accessibility, ensuring that all academic programs, student activities and facilities are accessible for students with disabilities. Evaluates eligibility for services and conducts follow-up meetings with students. Qualifications **What You Will Need:** **EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:** + **Master’s degree in mental health counseling,** school psychology, clinical psychology, or related field + **Experience working in post-secondary education** + Program development, proposal writing, and ability to design programs and curriculums for counseling service + Ability to access students’ personal, academic, and social needs and design intervention strategies appropriate to those needs + Knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) + Knowledge of relevant federal, state/provincial, and local statutes which govern the delivery of counseling and psychological services and disabilities support services **LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED** **:** + Licensed as a Mental Health Counselor in Florida.
