Mental Health Court Liaison
Location: Knoxville, TN
Schedule: Full-Time
About the Role
The Court Liaison serves as the primary connection between Knoxville Center for Behavioral Medicine (KCBM) and the legal system. This role coordinates legal processes related to psychiatric care, including involuntary commitments, court-ordered treatments, and guardianship hearings.
You’ll work closely with legal professionals, clinical teams, and law enforcement to support patients while ensuring legal compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate court-related matters: involuntary holds, hearings, guardianships
Prepare legal documents: Certificates of Need (CON), affidavits, summaries
Serve as liaison with courts, attorneys, and law enforcement
Communicate legal deadlines and coordinate hearings
Educate staff on mental health laws and patient rights
Track and document legal statuses
Collaborate with clinical teams to align care with legal requirements
Support psychoeducational groups on inpatient units as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or related field
2+ years of experience in psychiatric, legal, or court-related settings (hospital preferred)
Knowledge of mental health laws and court procedures
Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills
Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations
Proficient with electronic records and standard computer systems
