As a Non-Secure Detention RN at Berkshire Farms Center and Services for Youth, you will be responsible for the overall health and wellness of the youth entering the facility, including but not limited to completing a health history, facilitating initial physical exams/necessary laboratory tests, and providing treatment of all health conditions. The goal of the position is to provide nursing services, treatment, and continuity of care for all youth in conjunction with other practitioners to ensure health needs are addressed in a timely manner.
Job Responsibilities
Providing mental health centered nursing to children with significant mental health issues Case management of up to 8 youth at a time including reviewing intake packets and assessing and implementing medical care management plan and transporting youth to/from initial physical appointments Providing health assessments, outreach, and referrals with other care providers to ensure all health needs are met Medication Management including documenting and administering medications, ordering medications as needed Providing youth with educational support regarding healthy lifestyles and habits Communicating with medical providers via telehealth who provide medical oversight and support to the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Oversight of meal planning to ensure adequate, nutritional and balanced diets for the youth Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of basic nursing, health promotion, disease prevention and nutrition, including federal and state rules and regulations, safety principles and infection control Must possess New York State Registered Professional Nurse’s license
Job Requirements
Need to have: Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing; Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred Experience with mental health trauma within adolescent populations Minimum 3-5 years of experience preferred Experience with medical assessments A current, valid driver’s license is required. Local and regional travel is required daily Ability to be flexible with schedule (evening hours may occasionally be required) MS office Skills required Nice to have: Experience dealing with adolescents is preferred Experience dealing with mental health issues/psychiatric disorders is a plus

Pay & Schedule
Up to $82,000 annually, commensurate on experience. Monday – Friday from 8am-4pm, flexible schedule available. Early evening hours may be occasionally required. NO on call hours!
