Medical Respite is a part of the Healthcare for the Homeless Network and is supported by funds from multiple sources including King County Public Health, MIDD, and local hospitals. The Edward Thomas House admits patients referred from all King County area hospitals 7 days a week and operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The program is operated by Harborview Medical Center (HMC) at an off-site location next to the Harborview emergency department. **JOB RESPONSIBILITIES** + Participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to serve homeless people, many of whom are using substances and/or have a mental illness + Provide outreach/engagement services for difficult-to-reach clients, initially addressing basic needs of food, clothing, shelter and medical care + Conduct psychosocial and social service needs assessments. Develop treatment plans and provision of case management services + Recommend and monitor use of medication in mental health treatment + Participate in psychiatric consultation, supervision, program meetings + Develop, implement and document teaching specific to the patient populations served by the Health Care for the Homeless Mental Health Team + Document patient care in a manner that reflects recognition of the legal significance of an accurate and complete mental health record **REQUIRMENTS** + A Master’s Degree in behavioral sciences, such as psychology, psychiatric nursing, occupational therapy, vocational or educational counseling, or socialwork OR Bachelor’s Degree in nursing or a behavioral science + AND three years of experience in the direct delivery of professional mental health care. + Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration + Licensed as a mental health counselor, social worker, or psychologist **ABOUT HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTER** As the region's only Level I Trauma and verified burn center, Harborview Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare facility owned by King County and operated by UW Medicine.
