The Position Mental Health Technicians supplement the work of mental health professionals, health specialists, and nursing staff in providing direct client care for clients in a mental health facility. This position provides care, training, and treatment to adolescents with behavioral and emotional disturbances in a 24 hour/7 day a week in a residential setting at the Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility, PRTF North. Youth served by the PRTF program are designated as Severely Emotionally Disturbed (SED) and exhibit significant behavioral challenges including physical and verbal aggression, non-compliance, challenges to authority figures, school problems (academic and behavioral), peer and social difficulties, and family issues. Mental Health Technicians provide direct care services, basic skills training, psychosocial training, and case management to youth in a residential setting. The selected candidate will work directly with youth ages 12 through 17 with mental health and behavioral health issues. Mental Health Technicians work directly with youth individually, in a group setting, and with families. Selected candidate will work with youth in crisis, complete safety checks, run precautions, complete safety protocols, and respond to emergency situations according to policy and procedures.
