Mental Health Therapist Internship

Join our exciting Internship Opportunity!

We are accepting one intern for the summer block and one intern for the academic year, 2025-2026!

Nexus-Mille Lacs offers trauma-informed, family-centered, nationally recognized treatment for boys, ages 10-19, with significant mental health issues and harmful sexual behaviors. Responsibilities:

Fulfills the required academic program and or/Academic Institution’s criteria for an internship learning objectives Participates in the orientation and the onboarding process to learn Nexus Family Healing’s policy and procedure expectations (e.g. safety, harassment free environment, resident confidentiality, etc.) Ensures confidentiality of all treatment and services information pertaining to clients and their families Maintains agreed upon schedule and timeliness Meets the supervision requirements and expectations Acts ethically, professionally, and is respectful when communicating and interfacing with clients, coworkers, and external contacts

Qualifications: 

Must be enrolled in a master’s or other graduate degree in one of the behavioral sciences, human services, or related fields, from an accredited college or university. Must meet the required number of experience hours in a human services field for the internship level Valid driver's license required and meets the state regulating agency and Nexus Corporate driving requirements Knowledge of family-based philosophy and practice is preferred

Physical Demands:

Must be able to assist staff in physical interventions and restraints Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time (2-4 hours) Must be able to twist, bend and stretch in a manner conducive to daily activities within a residential treatment facility
