Mental Health Worker II
**Job Summary** Provides support to the nursing staff and patient care through the direction and guidance of licensed staff and leaders. Responsible for upholding Community Cares Standards. Responsible for ensuring patient safety. Precept MHT I employees. Observe verbal and non-verbal communication, monitor change in mood and behavior. Report observations to the assigned nurse. Assists in chart maintenance, environment of care, patient care and transportation as needed. Works under the direction of licensed nursing staff. **Essential Functions** + Communicates effectively. Establishes and maintains two way communication with peers, staff, leaders, and administration. + Adapts to change in a positive, professional manner. Able to be proactive to remediate any issues on the unit and guide others to manage care needs + Follows through on problems using the appropriate chain of command. Provides direction as a MHT leader for all other MHT staff, coordinating decisions with charge nurse + Coordinates shift responsibilities for all MHTs working with charge nurse. + Communicates appropriate information to lead staff member, supervisor, manager or director in a timely manner. + Completes required education in a timely manner. + Consistently uses therapeutic communication which demonstrates congruence between words and actions and holds others accountable for doing the same. + Maintains clear, neat, and safe environment for paitents and staff + Demonstrates population appropriate competencies for all relevant patient populations + Seeks information and guidance from others as needed + Effectively role models professional behavior + Ensures continuity of professional care and participates in program development and process improvement. + Responds to patient and family request appropriately and promptly + Accurately monitors and records patient information + Participates in new staff orientation and serves as a preceptor to new staff and students. + Actively participates in program development and implementation of process improvements + Assist with admissions, vitals, contraband searches, and discharge tasks as requested + Follow proper procedures during verbal and physical deescalation of patients. Able to individually individually perform crisis intervention and restrain violent patients. Responds to all Code White alerts. + Lead community group or an activity group as requested + Provide patients with equipment to perform ADLs. + Performs other duties as assigned. + Complies with all policies and standards. **Qualifications** + H.S.
