The Trial Court Administrator, Sandra Barrios, oversees all administrative responsibilities of the Fourth Judicial District. This includes responsibility for facilities management; serving as a liaison between agencies, the media, and the public; and developing and carrying out policies that enhance court system performance.

POSITION GENERAL SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for recruiting, screening, and selecting Veteran Mentors, as well as supervising and educating volunteer mentors supporting the Ada County Treatment Court. Treatment court provides an opportunity for certain court-involved individuals to receive treatment and support in the community rather than a correctional facility, and this position supports that mission by mentoring, guiding, and supporting veteran participants through court processes. The position coordinates all mentor activities with the District Manager and works closely with the Drug Court counseling staff, Drug Court participants, and the Drug Court Coordinator while also performing a variety of typing, filing, clerical, and other administrative tasks.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
This position performs complex and varied work under general supervision. The position is given latitude to exercise discretion and independent judgment to accomplish tasks.
Essential Functions
+ Develops and implements a mentor recruitment and training plan;
+ Supervises mentors, assigns work, reviews and evaluates performance and counsels mentors;
+ Recruits, screens and selects mentors;
+ Organizes and conducts training;
+ Develops community support relationships;
+ Maintains mentor files;
+ Speaks publicly to recruit volunteers and promotes education and awareness of the program;
+ Coordinates activities;
+ Sustains and evolves the mentoring program;
+ Meets with participants;
+ Acts as a coach, guide, role model and advocate for the participant;
+ Files, indexes, and processes office records, legal documents and related materials;
+ Enters data in computer system;
+ Prepares and handles correspondence of a sensitive and confidential nature;
+ Maintains logs and other records.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
+ Occasionally will observe program participants’ urine drug test;
+ Performs related functions as required.
Job Requirements
+ Must be a member or a veteran of one of the branches of the United States Armed Forces;
+ Combat experience preferred;
+ Knowledge of the criminal justice system;
+ Knowledge of chemical dependency;
+ Knowledge of community resources and services;
+ Knowledge of modern office equipment, practices, and procedures;
+ Skill in the operation of a personal computer;
+ Skill in public speaking;
+ Skill in communicating with a culturally diverse and manipulative populations;
+ Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
+ Ability to be an active listener;
+ Ability to demonstrate a professional demeanor and the ability to interact with others with discretion and tact;
+ Ability to maintain confidentiality;
+ Ability to type accurately at a proficient speed;
+ Ability to develop, prepare, and maintain accurate records and files;
+ Ability to research and organize data;
+ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Drug Court personnel and the public;
+ Ability to deal with confidential information in a responsible manner; and
+ Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
+ Must adhere to all of the Ada County Veterans Treatment Court program’s policies and procedures;
+ The Incumbent is subject to Criminal Records check;
+ This position has been designated safety sensitive and therefore the incumbent is subject to random drug testing.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
+ Work is performed primarily in an office environment and the employee in this class is subject to inside environmental conditions;
+ May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.;
+ This position may have exposure to potentially hazardous materials during limited occurrences of handling urine samples enclosed in a sealed bag. Incumbent will be required to follow appropriate guidelines for personal protective equipment and hygiene protocols;
+ Requires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permit the employee to function in a general office environment to accomplish tasks.
