The Mentor Recruitment & Retention Specialist is responsible for recruitment, screening, training, and matching Mentors and Mentees. The Mentor Recruitment & Retention Specialist will facilitate recruitment campaigns and will support the mentoring relationships as needed
Essential Functions: Assist and implement a mentor recruitment and youth outreach plan.Create, present and distribute recruitment materials as needed in public events and various publications.Support the retention process for mentors and mentees at the program.Cultivate community, organization, and collegiate partnerships that will provide an ongoing supply of potential mentors.Recruit and train mentors and provide ongoing regularly scheduled training.Orient Mentees and parents to the Mentor Program.Develop and implement short and long-term retention strategies to ensure an optimal geographic balance between youth involved with the program and prospective mentors.Assist with planning and implement public awareness campaigns.Participate in community events, fairs, and festivals for recruitment purposes.Collaborate with local and national mentoring organizations.Track outcome data and submit reports as needed. Other Functions: Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements: Bachelor’s degree with 1-2 years of experience in recruitment, training, volunteer management, and social services or combination equivalent of education and experience for a minimum total of 5 years. Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Internet. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail and multi-tasking skills, and be able to work under pressure. Self-starter, detail-oriented, excellent follow-up and organization skills, report writing and presentation skills Physical Demands:Must be able to read, write, and communicate both verbally and in written form to express and exchange ideas. While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee must be able to access all components of work station and other office equipment. Frequent typing, writing, bending and twisting. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.
Work Environment:General office environment with moderate noise. This is a traveling position with frequent visits to program locations. A busy environment with many unscheduled interruptions. Frequent computer use at workstation for extended periods of time. Public contact position requiring appropriate business apparel.
