Essential Function           

As an Intern, you will support our Merchandise Financial Planning team with the development of financial plans and strategies to ensure our long-term success. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to gain an understanding of merchandise financial planning and the retail industry, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for problem solving. This role will be a strategic partner to the merchants and planners to support category strategies driving sales, margin, and inventory efficiency.

Primary Duties   

Shadow the Merchandise Financial Planners to learn about the forecasting and planning processes to achieve sales, margin and inventory objectives and KPIs.    Spend time understanding the cross-functional collaboration with Buying, Product Development, Finance, Replenishment, Marketing and eCommerce to understand the product lifecycle Experience a day in the life of a Merchandise Financial Planner where you will shadow, drive and present your findings to leadership.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities       

 Retail or consumer goods industry experience preferred.  Pursuing current College degree (BA or BS)

Competencies / Attributes          

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to plan, forecast, and exercise good judgement. Critical attention to detail. Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.  Positive attitude and eagerness to learn.

Working Conditions /Physical Requirements      

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, books, small parts; using a keyboard, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

The position requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as shipment or record boxes. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities such as above-average agility and dexterity.

The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing of tall ladders; lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds, crouching or crawling or strenuous physical exertion.
