The Merchandise Manager of Marketing & Competitive Analysis serves as the subject matter expert (SME) and key cross-functional driver of marketing activation, pricing competitiveness, and promotional health within assigned categories or subcategories.

Evolving from a traditional P&L owner role, this position is focused on ensuring flawless execution of marketing support, competitive pricing strategies, partner-funded activations, and tactical business remediations. You may not directly own every deliverable, but you are accountable for ensuring they are addressed, aligned with business goals, and resolved through the right partners.

This is a role for a detail-oriented problem-solver who thrives at the intersection of Merchandising, Marketing, Pricing, and Partner Relations.

**Not a traditional buyer role. This role supports the broader Merchandising organization.**


Key Responsibilities


Marketing Activation & Promo Support – SME / R (Responsible)

Coordinate and submit promo planning briefs, working with planning, pricing, and marketing teams to ensure timing, tactics, and funding are aligned.Ensure partner promotional participation by leading vendor reach-outs for co-op support, exclusives, or sponsored offers.Serve as the primary merchandising point of contact for email, app, and PR support requests — ensuring content and offers are aligned with category strategies.Support PCP (Partner Created Promotion) troubleshooting and execution, escalating issues with tech or partners as needed.



Competitive Analysis & Pricing Strategy – SME

Lead category-level competitive KPI reviews (price competitiveness, value scores, availability, etc.) and recommend corrective actions.Partner with pricing and planning to execute cost concession asks, margin support opportunities, or pricing adjustments to drive category performance.Maintain visibility into market trends, promotional calendars, and pricing shifts — translating these into category-specific recommendations.



Issue Resolution & Stakeholder Alignment

Track and remediate rate change (RA) requests, working closely with planning and pricing partners.Identify and resolve frictional blockers related to marketing eligibility, brand opt-ins/outs, or merchandising misalignments.Maintain a regular pulse on high-priority campaign or event performance, partnering cross-functionally to ensure levers are optimized.


Key Qualifications

3–5+ years of experience in eCommerce, merchandising, or marketing operationsExperience with promotional planning, vendor negotiations, or cost/margin optimizationStrong analytical mindset with comfort reviewing competitive data and category KPIsExcellent cross-functional communication skills; ability to manage up, down, and acrossFamiliarity with tools and platforms such as Google Analytics, Tableau/Looker, and internal planning/pricing systemsProven ability to manage multiple workstreams and solve problems in fast-paced environments

Preferred Qualifications

SQL skillsGraduate degree in Merchandising, Supply Chain, Business, Economics, or a related field.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Merchandising, Economics or any related field or combination of education and/or experience based on the table above is required.


Base Pay Range:

$63,000 - $78,000

Physical Requirements:


This position requires you to sit, stand and perform general office functions. You may also be required to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally. Bending, stooping and reaching are also frequently required.
