Job Description

Merchandisers are integral to the success of ASOS.com and this is a unique role supporting the merchandising function. Buying is an imperfect science and the Merchandising team are there to aid the difficult decision-making process, whilst ensuring maximum profitability and relevancy for the ASOS customer, globally.  Merchandisers are responsible for strategically driving the business through effective planning, range building and trading, working collaboratively with Buying, Sourcing, Design, Technical, Global Commerce and Marketing teams to achieve commercially successful outcomes for the department and wider business.

What you’ll be doing…

Working to deliver the planned sales and profitability of the brand/business unit through effective planning and in-season analysis to support trading decisionsRegularly analysing department performances to maximise commercial opportunities and minimise riskWorking alongside the Head of Merchandising to ensure the delivery of all KPI’sThrough strategic planning and trading actions, intake analysis and regular analytics of Key KPI’s, supports the head off merchandising to make the appropriate decisions on the brand/Business UnitDeveloping and building strong relationships with the Product merchandisers and relevant stakeholders in the businessProviding an appropriate level of data analysis and insights that can be shared with relevant teams to aid decision making and gain buy in for ideasRegularly meetings with key stakeholders for the business unit to ensure that key messages and movements in forecast are communicated clearly.Working collaboratively with the management team to offer solutions and analysis to support future decision makingDeveloping short term and long term department strategies with the Head of Merchandising to maximise department profit.Driving, adapting and adjusting company strategy in season based on trade performanceResolving issues that may arise and working collaboratively with Key stakeholders and other relevant teams to come up with effective solutionsReviews KPIs regularly to ensure that the BTA is realistic, highlighting changes to team and management.Demonstrating a global mindset, discussing and sharing opportunities and risks with other depts to influence global strategy and drive divisional performanceSeeking opportunities to improve ways of working and systems use to trade more effectively globally, sharing knowledge with the team

Qualifications

Has a proven track record in Merchandising within a fast-paced and rapidly changing global RetailerHas excellent organisational and communication skillsHas a proven track record of building a strong robust network and has the confidence to influence their peer groupIs a critical thinker, possessing a strong problem solving mindsetStrong analytical skills and is able to demonstrate a commercial mindset, using data and insights to leverage opportunities that successfully contribute to the department and wider ASOS strategyIs self-driven and if comfortable working independentlyDemonstrates the ability to drive the success of a department through creative and commercial thinkingDemonstrates the ability to gain buy in from the team and management to potentialize opportunitiesEmbraces and champions the benefits of change within the wider teamCan confidently present the department performance and strategy to the team and managementShows a great understanding of the ASOS customer and customer segmentation and reflects this in decision makingUses relevant market insights to aid decision making and achieve the best outcome for the businessShows strong awareness of current trends, Retail market conditions and opportunities within a Global contextHas an effective and inclusive communication style, role modelling positive behaviours and providing the wider team with clear directionHas strong systems skills, including advanced Excel and relevant trading systems.Experience with Power BI or SQL would be preferable but not essential
