META Lab General Duties

The META Lab is seeking new Graduate Associates.

This general GA position is mainly focused on providing tutoring and course support of introductory and advanced data analysis courses. Other functions may be specified as needed.


Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes

This is mainly course support work. As such, candidates for this position should have completed the course they are supporting with a grade of A-, but preferably better.

GA Fellows

META Lab Fellows must be currently matriculating students at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey.

This work is specialized and the lab may require any of a broad set of analytic skills (qualitative, quantitative, and subject area) and collaborations among a small group are frequently far more valuable than the work of one or two students.

Successful candidates will possess some or all of the following skills:

Completion of intro to Policy and Data Analysis, or equivalent statistical course work Completion of advanced data analysis course work Experience in social network analysis Experience in qualitative data analysis Experience in R coding Experience in Tableau Advanced skills in data cleaning in R or Excel Experience in report preparation

Successful candidates should expect to complete some or all of the following duties:

Participate in regular lab meetings Meet with student colleagues as needed

Selection Process

Candidates will be selected according to their abilities in analytic methods (qualitative and quantitative) or their subject area experience and knowledge. We are hoping to establish a mix of skills that will reinforce and deepen the team.
