Job Summary:
The role of this position is to ensure the quality performance of processes which are important to product a high quality product mix through Davenport’s skin sheet, aerospace, and automotive sheet lines. This position will collaborate with a variety of stakeholders to include; plant production management team, plant quality team, and the Arconic Technology group at ATC.
The Metallurgical Tech will be under the direct supervision of the Lead Metallurgical Engineer with the following objectives:
Provide technical expertise to identify, solve and implement solutions to quality problems associated within a specific area of the plant/assignment. Provide metallurgical practices and decisions on a day-to-day basis, evaluate and control product quality and provide technical guidance and training. Train metallurgical engineers, operators, unit supervisors, and members of tother staff groups in fundamentals of aluminum metallurgy, quality requirements and fabricating practices. Participate in experimental studies which may include planning, conducting data collection, data analysis reporting of the results, and implementation of the conclusion reaches. Oversee or perform calibration and maintenance of testing equipment. Understand and use basic computer skills and programs. Understand and use basic control charting skills and understanding of statistical data analysis language. Provide technical expertise relating to problem solving, developing, and controlling quality issues. When situations arise, help to coordinate in design of developments of new technical processes/equipmentKey Responsibilities:
Insuring traceability of all products through assigned areas. Problem solving, developing solutions, implementing corrective actions related to quality concerns. Process monitoring to ensure standard practices and special instructions are being followed. Specialized testing, such as electrical conductivity testing, ingot scoping, gauge surveys, water sampling. Disposition of non-conforming material. Maintain and store data and records needed to meet corporate, government, and customer specification requirements. Monitoring process data to insure product structure and physical characteristics are of expected quality. Working as a team with other disciplines to minimize costs and optimize quality.
