Job Description

OceanaGold's Macraes Mine is seeking a Metallurgical Technician to join the Metallurgy team. The ideal candidate will be a team player who collaborates with colleagues, in alignment with OceanaGold’s Purpose, Vision and Values. Macraes is the largest mining operation in New Zealand, employing 650 people, offering excellent career development opportunities.

The role

The primary duties of the role are to conduct laboratory testwork programs and assist in the optimisation of the process plant. You will be working an attractive seven days on (Day Shift only) and seven days off, roster. You will be learning about ore sampling, metallurgical lab testing programs, health and safety, and an aspect of the gold mining industry. This role provides important support to our Processing team

Key tasks and responsibilities:

Follow laboratory standard operating procedures to conduct routine testworkComplete test programs on schedule in accordance with metallurgical laboratory standards and results reported in laboratory reporting template.Critical importance of maintaining quality, accuracy and repeatability of test work results. Communicating any issues relating to the test work program and met laboratoryConduct monthly inspection of metallurgical laboratory and equipment storage facilitiesData entry and administrationEnsuring all incidents and hazards are reported in INX

QualificationsHave experience in a metallurgical laboratory, analytical testing laboratory or similar and familiar with its work practices.Be attentive to detail Have a genuine interest in the mining industryHave a reasonable fitnessBe comfortable using MS OfficeBe able to communicate within a team environmentHold a full, clean, current driver's licence and must be comfortable driving a manual vehicle
