The Metallurgist/Process Engineer is responsible for a wide variety of activities throughout the cold mill facility.  This position is part of a team tasked with maintaining and improving safety, quality, and productivity at the Butler cold mill processes, including pickling, cold rolling, and/or galvanizing.

Responsibilities Promote and maintain safe work environmentIdentify and troubleshoot various issues in the production process with the operations teamProvide technical assistance to operations for product and process improvementPromote and improve quality standards in the production operationsProvide technical support to customers and the sales teamInvestigate claims, including the development and implementation of corrective and preventative actionsAssist with other activities as required, such as data analysis, product development, process improvement, ISO/IATF compliance, etc.Work collaboratively with product metallurgists, supervisors, operators, and other engineers

 

Qualifications B.S. degree in metallurgy, material science, or other related engineering fieldTravel requirements – some travel is necessary to visit customers, attend conferences/meetings, etc.Highly effective communication and interpersonal skillsProfessional computer skills, including data analyticsExperience in steel industry and/or other heavy manufacturing (preferred)Must be authorized to work in the United States
