Job Description

Targeted Hourly Pay Range: Minimum of $31.25

POSITION PURPOSE:

Under general supervision from the Metering Supervisor or other assigned supervisor, the Metering Technician will perform a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, repairs, tests and programs electronic and mechanical meters for uses.

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Commissioning of electrical and mechanical metering equipment in a variety of environments, including:Commercial Real Estate office buildingsMission critical facilities (e.g. data centers)Central boiler and chiller plantsSmall power generation and cogeneration stations (up to 100 MW)Identify and assemble required documentation, drawings, and data from clients, vendors, and contractorsDevelop building-specific commissioning reportsSubmit progress reports and commissioning meeting notes to the project and facility managerPerform physical testing of electrical/mechanical equipment and record using test instrumentation

Respond to customer inquiries in a manner that exceeds the customer’s expectations

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment:  The job can be physically demanding involving movement of heavy equipment and carrying materials up and down stairs. Candidates should be able to lift and maneuver a 70-lbs. load.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Associate degree in engineering / technology  with 1-3 years of experience in preferably electrical/mechanical/controls engineering, energy services, plant operations, or related field; ORMinimum of 1-5 years of experience as service technician, controls installer, commissioning agent, or construction manager with experience with building controls, test and balance, design, construction and/or maintenance of building systemsKnowledgeable with common electrical, mechanical, and controls-related building equipment, including:Uninterruptible power suppliesLow and medium-voltage electrical switchgearAutomatic transfer switchesStatic transfer switchesPower distribution unitsBackup generatorsGas turbinesReciprocating enginesSteam turbinesSelective catalytic reduction systemsChillers (electric, absorption, and steam-driven mechanical)Boilers (steam and hot water)Heat recovery steam generatorsPumpsAir handling unitsComputer room air conditioning unitsComputer room air handlersCooling towersBuilding management systemsOrganized, detail-oriented, analytical, proactive, energetic, problem solverExcellent communication and relationship skillsEffective written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyBuilding management and distributed control system experience a plusMetering experience a plus.
