METLAB INSPECTOR I

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

Graduate of Materials Engineering w/ 6 months - 1 year experience in related field

COMPETENCIES REQUIREMENT:

Ability to:

Perform limited number of chemical, material, and process skill sets required for this level, which will include evaluation of materials in accordance with the Met Lab procedure and print requirement, collection of data, disposal of hazardous materials, and searches for specific causes of problems.
Operate and maintain laboratory and analytical equipment and supplies in a manner to insure uninterrupted, reliable results in Met Lab.
Demonstrates engineering/scientific knowledge and logic. Demonstrate ability to document test results, document test procedures, reports, etc.
Assists in the preparation of technical information, with guidance.
Communicates options to senior engineering staff to determine next steps.
Sources and prepares data.  Performs technical problem solving with guidance. Data Acquisition - Collect data, and utilize basic calculations to analyze, represent and distribute data.  Ensure data collected is representative of actual events.
Diagnostic Skill - Use basic tools to detect and identify defect or abnormality and follow logical troubleshooting steps to diagnose the problem within a system, network or program. Document data captured while troubleshooting. Prepare, send, and track samples requiring additional material tests.  Maintain records.  Expedite inspections as required. Accurately and carefully, follows established procedures for competing work assignments. Implements specific components of project plan, with guidance. Uses appropriate methods and tools, as instructed. Performs project administration, such as reporting.
