Summary

The Metrology Engineer will be responsible for the measurement and evaluation of Amprius’ proprietary SiMaxx Silicon Nanowire Anode, including both production and quality control samples, as well as R&D project materials utilizing various metrology tools (optical, electronic, X-ray, etc.-based tools). This role involves developing and optimizing analytical methods, preparing detailed reports on anode quality and defect monitoring, and collaborating with the production team to enhance anode quality toward defect-free production. The engineer will work closely with the production team to understand the root cause of defects, follow up with experimental test plans to improve anode quality and provide comprehensive reports. The engineer will operate independently while providing support to cross-functional teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

 

Job Responsibilities Operation of metrology equipment, including (but not limited to): electron microscopes, optical microscopes, X-ray diffractometer, mass loading analyzer, ellipsometers, thickness gauges, etc for anode characterization. Develop and optimize preparation techniques and prepare samples using sputter coating, wax sectioning, and other methods Produce analysis reports for production runs of anode material for evaluation by the Anode and Cell teams Implement and monitor SPC-based controls for anode production systems and provide rapid feedback to process owners when shifts are observed Work with other engineers to provide specific metrology support and feedback for R&D projects in real-time Support metrology needs of other departments on an as-needed basis (e.g. cathode or separator imaging) Collaborate on root cause investigation, analysis, and implications of corrective actions Help to contribute to the development of best-known methods (BKM) Manage time and complete work efficiently Other responsibilities, as required, to enable streamlined operation of the Anode Manufacturing department
