**Metrology Engineer**
**What you will do**
Let’s do this! Let’s change the world! The Metrology Engineer must posses the ability to design, install and validate multiple and complex calibration and measurement systems with minimal supervision.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record in the design, development, evaluation and testing of instrumentation systems and will be a recognized expert in the field of pharmaceutical metrology. Additionally, the candidate will possess the ability to interact with various departments/teams and other Amgen sites to implement a global calibration control program. The candidate will also apply statistical process control, mathematical, physical science and advanced engineering tools and technologies to accomplish various metrology engineering objectives. Furthermore, the candidate will prepare and deliver effective periodic briefings, presentations, and technical papers for company management, industry conferences, and other associated publications. Specific experience with multiple measurement disciplines in areas such as pneumatic/fluid pressure, electronics (AC/DC) and temperature is required.
Duties and responsibilities:
+ Prepare calibration procedures/job task and associated training materials.
+ Strong electrical, torque, and temperature instrument standards understanding
+ Understanding of measurement uncertainty analysis for primary/working standards and process instrumentation.
+ Understand of process to determine new standards to support Instrumentation and Metrology calibrations.
+ Technical solving skills for instrument standards
+ Understanding of ISO and other Standards related to calibration and quality aspects (ISO 9001, ISO 17025, ANSIZ540)
+ Background in vendor Quality audits of calibration service suppliers and oversee vendor quality issues.
+ Experience with CMMS systems (SAP/Maximo…)
+ Interface with Corporate Facilities Team regarding CMMS calibration issues.
+ Serve as technical expert regarding calibration issues during regulatory inspections for areas of responsibilities like electrical and pressure standards.
+ Provides technical consultation to others pertaining to measurement problems and leads technical project teams.
+ Support deviation investigations related to measurement standards. Conduct reverse traceability assessments. Implement corrective and preventative action plans pertaining to calibration and measurement issues.
+ Support engineering/performance assessment for new technology in support of standards, manufacturing, process development, and research equipment

**Basic Qualifications:**
+ Master’s degree OR
+ Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of metrology engineering experience OR
+ Associate’s degree and 6 years of metrology engineering experience OR
+ High school diploma / GED and 8 years of metrology engineering experience
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor of Science degree or Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Physics with a minimum of seven years engineering experience in pharmaceutical or electro-mechanical metrology (or other related fields).
+ 10 plus years' experience in metrology engineering within a large organization within a primary standards laboratory level or comparable related technical activities
+ Performing applications of advanced measurement engineering principles and technology related to highly complex technical assignments.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
