Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Metrology Manager to lead our calibration and quality assurance team in an aerospace environment. This position is critical to ensuring the precision, compliance, and traceability of our measurement systems and processes.
Roles and Responsibilities
Lead and manage a team of technicians responsible for calibration and maintenance of aerospace measurement equipment.Oversee compliance with ISO/IEC 17025, AS9100, and other aerospace quality standards.Develop and implement calibration processes to maintain traceability to NIST or other national standards.Coordinate and prepare for internal and external audits, including FAA, NADCAP, and customer reviews.Ensure the accuracy and functionality of dimensional, mechanical, and electrical metrology equipment.Provide training and mentorship to team members on measurement techniques, quality procedures, and compliance requirements.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve measurement and calibration issues.Manage the metrology lab budget, including cost control and procurement of calibration equipment.Basic Qualifications
Experience:7+ years of experience in metrology, calibration, or quality assurance, preferably in the aerospace industry.3+ years in a leadership role, managing teams responsible for calibration or quality in a regulated environment.Hands-on experience with calibration of dimensional, electrical, and mechanical equipment used in aerospace applications.Problem-Solving and Management:Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve calibration issues with high precision and efficiency.Proven track record of managing multiple projects while ensuring deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are met.Communication and Leadership:Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, customers, and regulatory bodies.Ability to mentor and train team members, fostering technical growth and adherence to best practices.Additional Requirements:Willingness to travel as needed for audits, customer engagements, or equipment installations.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and strict regulatory oversight.Background Check Required.Preferred Qualifications
Education:Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field (Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering preferred).Equivalent experience in metrology or calibration may be considered in lieu of a degree.Technical Proficiency:Expertise in measurement uncertainty analysis and calibration traceability to national or international standards (e.g., NIST).Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and precision measurement tools.Competence in managing and maintaining metrology software systems for data recording and analysis.Standards and Compliance:In-depth knowledge of aerospace industry standards such as AS9100, ISO/IEC 17025 regulations.Familiarity with MIL-STD-45662, NADCAP requirements, and other industry-specific compliance frameworks.Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification for process improvement and efficiency.Proficiency with metrology software tools, including IndySoft, MET/CAL, or similar systems for calibration management.Advanced understanding of measurement uncertainty budgets and traceability documentation.Familiarity with modern automation tools and equipment for streamlining calibration processes.KBR Benefits
