Your mission, roles and responsibilitiesThe Legal Manager for Mexico will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal support and counsel to the companys operations in Mexico, ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations, managing legal risks, and supporting the business objectives in the automotive industry.
Legal Manager. Provide strategic legal advice to senior management, department heads, and key stakeholders on a wide range of matters, including commercial contracts, corporate governance, intellectual property, mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
Contract Management. Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts with suppliers, clients, and partners, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and comply with local legal regulations.
Compliance and Risk Management. Advise on regulatory and compliance issues related to the automotive industry in Mexico, including environmental laws, import export regulations, and product safety standards. Ensure that the companys operations comply with Mexican laws and international standards.
Litigation and Dispute Resolution. Represent the company in legal proceedings, manage external counsel, and lead the resolution of disputes, including negotiations and settlements in commercial, and regulatory matters
Corporate Governance. Support the companys governance structures, including drafting and reviewing corporate documents, overseeing compliance with Mexican corporate law, and supporting shareholder and board meetings.
Cross Functional Collaboration. Work closely with other departments (Finance, Operations, HR) to ensure legal aspects are properly integrated into business processes and decision making
Your profile and competencies to succeedThe ideal candidate will have extensive experience in corporate law, commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, dispute resolution, and a deep understanding of the automotive sector in Mexico.
Minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience as a practicing attorney in a multinational company focusing on commercial, and regulatory law within the automotive or similar industry
In depth knowledge of Mexican laws and regulations affecting the automotive industry.
Specialized knowledge in corporate law and corporate governance.
Knowledge with applicable trade and customs laws.
Experience in the management of real estate projects including lease agreements and construction projects with compliance under environmental regulations and permitting requirements.
Experience in the management of external law firms with a business oriented approach.
Experience working closely with business managers.
Proven track record of handling complex legal issues and commercial disputes. Litigation experience preferred.
Ability to develop effective policies and lead interactive education and training initiatives
Excellent technical communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
Ability to maintain open and effective communication with all levels of the organization
