Provide a summary of the job’s purpose and objectives
Drive standardization, automation and reusability of reporting solutions and analytical products to deliver consistent, actionable information and insights across the enterprise for business and functional support areas. Support the delivery of revenue growth, expense optimization, competitive advantage and drive data driven decision making, by increasing analytical maturity. Leverage existing tools to efficiently deliver or present the information to internal or external audience.

(5%) Develop execution strategies to accomplish mission and goals of the Data Analytics team.
• Work in partnership with Integration, Advanced Analytics, DS, Infrastructure and Security teams to support the implementation of new best practices, products, procedures or technology.
• Identify opportunities to leverage reporting technologies and reporting capabilities to enhance departmental, division, or enterprise productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency.
Collaborate with leaders of CoE, Functional Area and Enterprise Applications in the design of Change Management, Standardization, Self-Service and Quality Assurance methodology, policies and procedures.(15%) Coach and develop subordinates to maximize individual performance, build future organizational leadership, enhance teamwork, drive inclusion and diversity and strengthen support of organization's values, tactics and strategies
Establish clear, measurable performance expectations. Provide timely coaching, guidance and feedback to help staff excel on the job and meet key accountabilities. Conduct performance reviews, 1-on-1’s, and staff meetings with departmental personnel, providing frequent feedback on meeting individual and organizational objectives. Assist staff in developing and monitoring their personal development plans. Provide staff with opportunities to gain technical and business knowledge in pursuit of exceptional individual and corporate results. Adhere to the Assurant Core Principles; pursue personal and encourage staff achievement of excellence in Core Competencies. Develop, implement and monitor departmental policies and procedures to ensure alignment with Data Analytics and Enterprise vision, mission, and values. Monitor staff performance by rewarding positive behaviors and addressing negative behaviors accordingly. Ensure that all operating procedures are accurate and complied with by personnel. Create new operational guidelines, as needed. Align staff according to skill set and experience to support the Data Analytics projects for the business. Cross train departmental personnel to insure that all functions are appropriately staffed during periods of absence due to vacations, leaves, or staff vacancies. Monitor departmental workflow and processes to maximize productivity, and recommend organizational and procedural changes as needed and implement those changes as directed.(5%) Research and implement new standards, best practices, tools, strategies and techniques in the descriptive analytics area to optimize execution strategies
Work in partnership with Integration, Advanced Analytics, DS, Infrastructure and Security teams to evaluate and explore new best practices, products, procedures, technology and capabilities for descriptive reporting. Support the evaluation and/or implementation of new technology solutions or upgrades of existing solutions.(5 %) Ensure change management and quality assurance practices are understood, adhered to,
and leveraged to enhance system health and quality.
• Understand methodology, standards, policies and procedures and ensure that teams are complying with established standards.
• Design/develop solutions to business and technical requirements.
• Review quality requirements and establish or recommend appropriate measurement metrics.
• Identify and document quality assurance activities, strategies and schedules.
• Evaluate software products and internally developed solutions for consistency with best practices and standards .
• Oversee staff technical support activities required for execution of overall test plans. Assist in the analysis of conditions and approve strategies that effectively minimize implementation risk and/or improve solutions reliability and performance
• Perform and/or direct and mentor defect correction while maintaining reporting solution's integrity.
• Evaluate outcomes, review findings and recommend strategies that improve long term quality and performance.
(20%) Lead, plan, and manage significant departmental, division, or enterprise projects in
support of project objectives and deadlines.
• Provide project management services, providing budget and resource allocation and forecasting, financial tracking of resources, hours, and expenditures for teams, department, or projects, as needed.
• Implement systems development methodologies and enforce compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assist in the coordination of user efforts required for project implementation.
• Communicate issues and progress to management and customers as needed. Provide management reporting of status and relevant issues related to projects, personnel, etc.
• Coordinate work activities across Data Analytics, Data Services, information technology departments, business, functional areas, and project teams.
• Function as the lead BI and data modeler on highly complex or sensitive development projects for the department, division, or enterprise.
• Work closely with the internal and external business clients to develop technology solutions that provide Assurant a competitive advantage.
( 10%) Direct efforts to ensure supported BI environments, Reports, Dashboards and Data Models
are stable and highly available, cost efficient, and at an appropriate level of technical
maturity. Provide effective, flexible and secure BI solutions that support business
strategy and operations.
• Ensure all supported BI environments, Reports, Dashboards and Data Models are working accurately and as expected, that process and technology documentation is complete and accurate, and that appropriate disaster recovery procedures are developed and maintained for relevance.
• Manage departmental resources and systems to ensure Service Level Agreements are met or exceeded. Ensure that a proper control structure and escalation path is in place, and is being followed and monitored.
• Enforce governance and provide stewardship for supported environments, reports, Dashboards and data models.
• Perform pro-active and as requested audits or reviews. Communicate issues and progress to management and customers as needed.
• Provide rapid corrective response and action to resolve disruptive incidents.
• Ensure the communication of incident status to appropriate management, staff and user personnel.
• Ensure the documentation of incident occurrence and resolution in the appropriate repositories.
• Identify and recommend strategies to minimize risk(s) of incident recurrence.
• Consult, mentor and direct other staff personnel as required for effective incident resolution.
• Oversee the resolution of complex technical development and support issues.
• Coordinate the application of program enhancements (resolutions) with the applications and technical staffs and follow through to ensure customer satisfaction and SLA compliance.
• Collaborate with other IT departments/disciplines to ensure that changes to the BI, ETL and warehouse environments are instituted at an appropriate level of quality, cost, and architectural consistency.
(20%) Collect requirements from stakeholders and leverage knowledge of the key components and relationships of Assurant products, distribution channels, customer base, systems and data into solution designs for effective reporting.

Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications Required - Experience, Skills, and Knowledge
Basic qualifications must be (1) non-comparative (not based on a comparison of one individual with another); (2) objective (not based on the employer’s subjective judgment); and (3) relevant to performance of the job and consistent with business-related goals.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Analytics, Business, Economics, Accounting or a related field.
Experience – Minimum of 7+ years of experience in the fields of insurance, analytics and reporting
5+ years in People Management
Expert in visualization techniques, Experienced in visual story telling with data, designing highly automated descriptive analytics/reporting solutions, building, integrating and managing databases, creating data models, especially within the PowerBI stack, understanding of business needs and processes. Expert in PowerB, Excel, SSRS and Tableau, Experienced in SharePoint, PowerApps, MSFlow, SQL and/or SAS Experienced in effective and compelling communication to technical and non-technical departmentsEnvironmental / Physical Demands
