Job Summary
Join our newly branded Blue Sky Catering with Chartwells at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities as a Catering Sales Manager.
Working as a Catering Sales Manager, you will partner with the university on catering inquires with Chartwells. You will effectively communicate with client using qualifying questions to help determine catering options for events.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide catering sales support to client inquires.
* Determine client catering needs by providing outstanding customer service.
* Providing knowledgeable and appropriate suggestions regarding menu selections and event locations.
* Answer ongoing questions and provide solutions to client inquires.
* Partner and communicate with internal teams on menu and catering events.
* Create and maintain catering activities in CaterTrax to ensure menu, location, and staffing needs are recorded.
* Performs related duties and special projects as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree is preferred or equivalent professional experience
* Proven track record in catering
* Strong knowledge of current food and industry trends
* Solid understanding of the sales process and passion for business development through direct sales, with proven record of accomplishment for sales success
* Energy and capability for continued self-motivation, with intrinsic competitive drive to achieve
* Ability to work effectively as an independent contributor, and as a part of a collaborative team
* A minimum of two years of experience in hospitality industry including one year experience in catering sales
* Ability to assess client requirements and deliver ensuring client satisfaction
* Superior oral and written communications and problem-solving/strategizing skills
* Excellent organizational skills, flexible and adaptable to constant changes and must possess attention to detail
* Excellent overall computer skills with advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
* Proactive mindset and able to remain calm under pressure to anticipate and support changes in our business
* Exceptional client relations and customer service abilities
