Mgr, Occupational Health Physician

Position Summary / Job Purpose:
The Corporate Occupational Health Physician is responsible for ensuring the overall health and wellness of the company's employees through preventive care, health education, and effective treatment of work-related injuries and illnesses. This role includes managing occupational health programs, promoting a safe work environment, and complying with health regulations and policies.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Medical Services Provision
•    Provides routine and acute medical care including first aid treatment and initial dose of medicine or prescription as needed.
•    Review pre-employment medical exam results of applicants and new hires and initiates appropriate actions for any medical findings.
•    Re-evaluate and follow-up pending medical exams for completion to meet contract requirements.
•    Provide short-term medical care and refer patients needing hospital or medical specialist consult.
•    Do examinations of returning employees from sick/medical leave status and issue or certify fitness to work clearances.
•    Conduct house/hospital visits as required by the HRBP upon approval of the Head of Human Resources.
•    Coordinate with external healthcare providers and specialists as required.

 

Employee Health and Wellness
•    Educates employees on wellness, prevention, early detection of disease, provides medical counseling and other related health and safety campaigns and activities.
•    Conduct health education and wellness programs to promote healthy lifestyles among employees.

 

Administrative and Supervisory Duties
•    Validates and approves sick leaves and medical leaves and shift change requests, ensures completeness of the forms and documents submitted.
•    Maintain accurate and confidential employee medical records.
•    Collaborate with the HR team to manage health-related absences and return-to-work programs.
•    Prepare reports on health trends and occupational health statistics for management review.
•    Supervises the company nurse in carrying out their duties and responsibilities.

Occupational Health Programs and Compliance
•    Develop and implement occupational health programs, including health promotion, disease prevention, and ergonomics.
•    Advise management on workplace safety, health policies, and compliance with health regulations.
•    Participate in safety committees and health initiatives.
