An exciting opportunity for an ambitious and experienced Shift Manager has arisen to play a key role in a dynamic, motivated, high-performing team in the Oral Solid Dose Facility.
Reporting into Operations Lead the Shift Manager will take ownership for designated shift and others as required. Responsible for the operations teams, process equipment and all activities affecting them. Provide leadership, cross functional development and technical expertise to operations, maintenance and administrative personnel in the management of products. Ensuring that objectives are effectively achieved, consistent with Company’s’ s requirements to ensure compliance, safety and reliable supply to our customers.
Role Responsibilities
Ensures that all operations are performed in conformance with site safety, environmental and quality procedures thereby ensuring department is audit/inspection ready.Effectively deploys resources to maximise productivity across modules and shift rosters. Manages production related schedule adherence, tasks and resources on the team and cross functionally.Develops plans to meet short term business objectives or leads projects in line with business goals.Supports the MPS model in Pharm Ops leading the way in 8 Step problem solving, initiate and lead improvement activities and Leader standard work.Continually assesses and develops the performance of each member of the team. Provides timely feedback to members of the team on their performance requirements.Ensures adherence to all site performance and behavioural standards for all direct reportsEnsures adherence to all trade union agreements and attend monthly Union meetings as required.Is responsible for ongoing recruitment, training and development of his/her team members and develops and delivers training needs analysis for his/her team as required.Support equipment reliability initiatives on site by ensuring equipment maintenance schedules are adhered to.Manage overtime and vacation for direct reports to ensure department budgets are metManage specific budget elements assigned, for example, elements of the supplies budget for the IPT.Complete assignments for Emergency response as required under the site MAP.This role is a key leadership development role on site and the incumbent will have opportunity to develop as a leader through both on the job training and development and specific development assignments.
Bring energy, knowledge, innovation to carry out the following:
Leadership activities including selection, development, coaching and day to day management of the production team.Manage production related schedule adherence, tasks and resources in IPT and cross functionally; partner with colleagues to perform vendor management, communications, training, project work, audit/inspection duties etc.; thereby ensuring department is audit/inspection ready.Oversee operation and monitoring of production activities and support equipment, using MES and PLC based systems.Manage equipment flow, including tracking of soiled and clean hold times, proper labelling and inventory management of clean and sterile equipment using Kanban’s and automated MES system to set QC status and expiry of sterile equipment. Ensure clean room cleaning, housekeeping and materials management in all production areas are completed to standardOversee maintenance and reliability of process equipment, ensuring ongoing preventative maintenance, equipment troubleshooting and repairs to ensure continuous, reliable and repeatable operation of all equipment specifically in their suite. Ensure effective management and equipment shutdown scheduling, ensuring resources are available, thereby minimizing downtown.Drive effective writing/revising/rolling out of accurate operational procedures, training materials and maintenance procedures for various IPT systems; ensure all work is subsequently carried out in line with same.Foster a culture of continuous improvement and support implementation of MPS within operations.Manage root cause analysis of system failures, substandard equipment performance, using standard tools and methods, to resolve machine and system issues e.g. FMEA, Fishbone diagrams, 5 why’s etc.; oversee and implement subsequent corrective action through the change management system.Drive compliance with the Company’s Global Policies, Procedures and Guidelines and regulatory requirements.Evidence of continuous professional development is desirable. What skills you will need:
In order to excel in this role, you will more than likely have:
Degree qualification or equivalent; Science, Engineering, Technical.Demonstrated leadership experience in a people management role or projectExperience in the manufacturing industry with tablet manufacturing preferable.Proven track-record in delivering results with a strong focus on manufacturing excellenceKnowledge of and experience in applying Lean /MPS methodologies.Experience in setting clear performance standards; overcome obstacles and coaching others by imparting your skill set and expertise.As a company, we are dedicated to ‘Inventing for Life’ in all that we do.
