The Role

E83 Propulsion Plant Engineering Activity (PPEA) is seeking a leader to supervise the PPEA electrical team responsible for CVN68 Class electric plant and supporting systems.  PPEA functions as an Engineering Agent for NAVSEA 05 and specializes in the unique interfaces between propulsion and reactor plant systems.  PPEA provides life cycle maintenance, modernization, and engineering support to the fleet, NAVSEA, TYCOM and shipyards that support Nimitz Class carrier availabilities and RCOH.

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design; Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience.


Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

 

Nice to Have

Master’s degree in electrical engineering is desired.
Familiarity with the following is desired:
•    Power Generation and associated support systems.
•    Knowledge of the design, operations, maintenance and repair of electrical switchgear and instrumentation
•    Electrical distribution systems, networks, and interior communication systems
•    Military Environmental Qualification requirements and testing
•    Software certification, cybersecurity, and Risk Management Framework.
•    Experience in project management to manage multiple, complex projects simultaneously, prioritizing work to meet quality and schedule objectives.
