We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineering Manager, to drive small independent teams focused on delivering high quality software. At HMH we see quality as a shared responsibility of each software team, and expect each team to keep the broadest possible definition of quality at the heart of their work.

 

The QE Manager will be involved in developing the high standards of quality for a range of projects, and making sure that software teams are meeting those. The QE Manager will focus on the practices and values that help teams deliver high quality software predictably, and evolving the quality engineering discipline within HMH. The successful candidate will have extensive practical experience working on high complexity software products, a focus on quality, and experience leading and managing teams.

 

Responsibilities:

The QE Manager will drive the continuous implementation of quality practices. The areas of highest priority will be, but not limited to: test automation coverage, continuous integration, test execution stability, test reporting, test artifact visibility, process and general improvements in quality. Also, the QE Manager will be responsible for helping each software team plan their quality efforts, and validate that they have the right investment in key areas.

 

A high level of communication is needed for successful implementation of CI, DevOps, Test Engineering and Test Automation Architecture and the QE Manager will be one key player in driving this ongoing changes.

 

The QE Manager will be involved in maintaining test plans in Continuous Integration platform and drive the effort of implementing efficient Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery environment and actively participate into setting standards for functional and automated testing for frequent and effective execution. The QE Manager will lead and coach teams to  take advantage of automation ‘best-practices’ and standards to allow for easier collaboration and increasing quality of automation code.

 

The candidate will actively participate in the Agile ceremonies, and take a hands on role with the day to day delivery of software. The QE Manager will also be a people manager for Quality Engineers contributing in different scrum teams.

 

The QE Manager will participate in training and mentoring other team members to help deliver better quality outcomes.

 

The candidate will research and analyze new test and test automation techniques, look ahead, find and avoid pitfalls for the team.

 

Required:

10+ years, QA management experience of 3-5 years, Strong people management skills (teams of at least 20 QE engineers), Experience in working with Central QE model Experience working in an agile software development environment with shared ownership of quality. Strong experience in analysing requirements, developing  test strategies and  test cases. Experience as a people manager and building & Leading high performance QE Team Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced delivery system Experience in defining Quality Metrics for stakeholders Reporting  Prepare insightful quality reports, identify improvement areas, and lead the efforts to Improve quality score across the different areas of QE engagement Experience using automated testing tools Experience in testing large scale distributed software platforms Familiar with Testing Frameworks Familiar with Test Design Patterns Familiar with Defects and Test Management tools Experience with source control tools Experience of working within a Continuous Integration environments Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work and collaborate within and across teams Strong People leadership and mentorship skills Detail orientated and ability to multi-task effectively Quick learner and work efficiently and effectively independently and in a team environment

 

Preferred:

Experience using automated testing tools like: Playwright, Selenium WD, Robot, Cypress etc Hands-on with programming languages like Java, Python, JavaScript Familiar with Testing Frameworks like: Codecept, TestNG, RestAssured Familiar with Test Design Patterns such as: Page Object Model and Page Factory Good hands-on exposure to Defects and Test Management tools like: JIRA, X-Ray etc Experience with source control tools like: Git, SVN, etc. Experience in SQL and understanding of tools & techniques for validating table records Experience of working within a Continuous Integration environments using tools like: Jenkins, Concourse Teamcity etc. Understanding of tools like Postman, Browserstack, Pactflow , Chromatic is desirable Strong knowledge of manual and Automated API testing Experience of any cloud platforms like AWS, Azure etc Exposure to leveraging AI in driving efficiency in automation or testing would be a plus

 

Physical Requirements:

Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing) The person in this position needs to move about inside office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings
