Offers may vary depending on the circumstances of each case. **Summary:** The Manager, Research Finance is responsible for providing financial oversight during the life cycle of a federally, industry and foundation funded projects in the academic department. The Manager, Research Finance serves as a subject matter expert for the development and management of the operational research budget for the department. Serve as the main contact for faculty and fund accounting for all research projects financial issues. The manager will support a variety of initiatives ranging from systems implementation to policy and process development. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures **Other information:** **Required Job Qualifications:** • Bachelor's degree with three years of progressive experience in research administration/sponsored programs administration • Understanding of fiscal management of grants. • Working knowledge of major federal/non-federal sponsors and regulatory requirements. • Excellent verbal and written communications as well as interpersonal skills. • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. • Strong customer focus and responsiveness. • Comfortable in a fast paced, deadline driven environment. • Strong Microsoft Office skills **Preferred Job Qualifications:** • Master's degree in business, finance or research. • CPA. • Two years of experience in a management level position in a university setting. • Experience working with electronic grants administration systems and research databases **Disclaimer:** The above is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this job. It is not to be construed as an exhaustive statement of duties, responsibilities, or requirements. **Responsibilities:** • Manages research funds and monitors sponsored research accounts, including notifying Principal Investigators (PIs) and verify all necessary approvals. • Oversees the post award budget set up in LINK and access to fund reports and appropriate roles as requestor or report recipient for financial reports. • Oversight of invoicing and payments received for industry, federal and foundation sponsored studies. • Manages monthly research budget forecast, actual charges, manage and oversee research accounts payable/receivables functions of the Department. • Develops annual research budget and apprises Research Administrator of the research budget for all divisions. • Prepares fund allocation, labor distribution and cost transfers for the Department in collaboration with the Research Administrator and Division Administrators. • Develops research incentives plan and bonuses for research faculty. • Develops monthly financial reporting process and keeps faculty informed about the financial status of their research grants on a regular basis, including federal, foundation, industry and donor funding. • Oversees effort certification and reporting on federal research grants, • In collaboration with Research Administrator, establishes and maintains internal controls for all financial transactions including annual budget preparation. • Manages assigned research personnel including making employment recommendations and providing performance feedback. • Manages and completes special research related projects and other duties as assigned.
