Manages the resources and activities of personnel engaged in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of the Traction Electrification Systems section, including the overhead catenary system and substations for Dallas Area Rapid Transit's (DART's) Ways, Structures, & Amenities Division.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages personnel engaged in Traction Electrification Systems (TES) functions, including overhead catenary systems, AC & DC substations, tunnel lighting, and equipment.Manages and directs the performance of detailed maintenance, repairs, modifications, etc., to Traction Electrification Systems (TES).Interviews, selects, develops, trains, evaluates, counsels, and, if necessary, disciplines subordinate personnel according to established policies, procedures, and guidelines.Enforces safety policies and reviews/analyzes problem areas to determine the need for improved procedures.Develops work schedules and preventative maintenance, repair, upgrade, and equipment installation schedules.Assist with developing the section budget, monitor the budget to determine variances, and participate in periodic budget reviews.Develops, submits for approval, and implements procedures and methods to ensure compliance with established guidelines, quality control, and measures standards for effectiveness; prepares various management reports.Ensures appropriate records are maintained according to work performed and completes required forms, reports, and other documentation related to labor and material cost estimates, procedures, accidents, inspections, and maintenance.Ensures facilities, equipment, tools, materials, and supplies are maintained properly and available for use. Authorizes requisitions for materials, parts, and supplies to be added to stock and maintains requisitions for materials and supplies. Monitors equipment usage for recommendations on replacement and coordinates needs with the Material Management Division.Review plans and drawings to make recommendations for future projects.Performs various duties, including responding to emergency conditions, coordinating with outside contractors, and assisting with the development and promotion of capital projects.Performs other related duties as assigned.MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Note: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Electrical Technology, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field.Eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in the maintenance of rail traction power systems or industrial electrical maintenance/construction. Including a minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience involved in maintenance activities and technical support programs in a similar environment.Demonstrate fiduciary obligation and probity to section, division, department, and DART in handling materials and information of a confidential nature.Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with supervisory and non-supervisory employees, government entities, consultants, vendors, contractors, and a culturally diverse community in one-on-one, small, and large groups.Strong team-building skills with the ability to motivate others to achieve the strategic vision and goals developed by the division, department, and agency.A strong applicable business acumen, providing analytical and creative skills to solve highly complex interpersonal, professional, technical, and administrative problems resulting in timely and accurate decisions both as an individual and at a team level.Ability to change direction and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks on a regular basis.Ability to positively motivate individuals and teams to meet or exceed project expectations.Provide others with current, direct, complete, actionable positive and corrective direction.Strong PC word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software skills. Ability to use typical office equipment such as copiers, calculators, facsimiles, etc.Valid Texas C driver's license, with no Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) conviction within the last sixty (60) consecutive months, not more than one (1) DWI on driving record, and not more than three (3) convictions of moving violations within the last thirty-six (36) consecutive months to operate DART non-revenue vehicles.Pass a physical (medical) examination that includes a drug screen to operate DART non-revenue vehicles.Operates mobile and hand-held radio.Operates DART non-revenue vehicles as required.WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in an environment where there is minimum exposure to dust, noise, or temperature. May be moderately exposed to unpleasant working conditions to include dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals while visiting DART's operating facilities, assuming the incumbent is observing all policies and procedures, safety precautions and regulations, and using all protective clothing and devices provided.
