**POSITION SNAPSHOT** **Title: Microbiologist** Location: 6th October, Egypt **Main Purpose of Job** The Microbiologist is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in the microbiology laboratory processes of our food products. They shall adhere to company instructions, procedures and systems and cooperate with the company in meeting occupational safety and health requirements. + Trained in laboratory safety and familiar with safety manual contents. + Aware of risks and minimizes them, handles hazardous materials properly. Knowledgeable about emergency procedures + Reports health problems. Follows safety protocols and wears PPE Following the S&H rules and procedures, and for highlighting and addressing new risks as they are identified **People and know-how:** Promote quality awareness by delivering training for their specific areas of expertise e.g. relevant standards and guidelines **System design:** Define and update the specific quality procedures, instruction and tools which are directly related to their area of concern and implement Nestle quality instructions **Quality mastership:** Media Preparation: + Responsible for media preparation, as per Laboratory Instructions/Internal Standard Operating procedures. + Responsible for maintaining the minimum stock level of prepared media and chemicals with the right identification on each and appropriate storage. + Responsible for maintaining the media stock record, updating when a bottle is transferred from stock count to operational count. + Responsible for performing the Internal Control Plan as per the described schedule of the concerned area. **General Micro Lab:** + Responsible for general microbiology as per Laboratory Instructions/Official Methods/other procedures + Responsible for counting/reading of results, and correctly filling the worksheets during analysis and reporting the results to the supervisor. + Responsible for preparing the samples for retention with proper identification of analysis and disposal date. + Responsible for performing the Internal Control Plan as per the described schedule of the concerned area. **Sample Registration:** + Responsible for sample registration, as per Internal Standard Operating Procedures along with the preparation of worksheet for the samples to be tested and arranging the samples in a sequential manner. + Responsible for sample registration using SAP, as per Internal Standard Provide training and guidance to the team on quality procedures, standards, and best practices. + Foster a culture of quality awareness and continuous improvement within the team. **Documentation and reporting:** Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to Microbiology laboratory Generate reports and analyze data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for cost savings. • Lead activities to achieve compliance with the Nestlé Integrated Management System requirements and other applicable instructions, standards and support production to comply to product specific standards • Delivers training for their specific areas of expertise e.g., • Perform root cause analysis and corrective action follow-up of any non-conformities. • Promote continuous quality awareness culture and commitment to quality across the unit. • Define and update the specific quality procedures, instructions, and tools in technical expertise to have a clear path of the requested objectives. • Contribute to define and deliver quality KPIs to evaluate Quality performance. • Perform any other duty/tasks assigned to him/her from time to time as per the business needs. **Q pillar:** Ensure attainment to Q pillar master plan when assigned and initiate opportunities for defect/ waste reduction/elimination projects, following the NCE methodology and quality techniques **Quality auditing and verification:** Support readiness for internal and external audits. Performs trouble shooting and corrective action follow-up of non-conformities. **ARE YOU A FIT?** + Bachelor Degree of Food Science, Pharmacy or Agriculture (preferred Microbiology background) + Certified Lead Auditor in quality certifications is recommended + 2-4 years of experience as a Microbiologist is a must
